Friday was our annual Family Movie Night and our cafeteria was packed with about 300 of our eagles and their families! We kicked off the evening with Disney Movie Trivia and then watched Toy Story 5! Our concession stand was hopping and the memories made are priceless.

It was Farm Day in Kindergarten at Woodlawn Elementary School! Our youngest learners having been learning about Fact and Opinion as well as life on the farm! Our Mayworth family brought a piece of their farm to our school so our eagles could see it in real life! Learning is best when it’s hands on!

Today we had the chance to announce our Leadership Ambassadors for this school year. These 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders completed applications and interviews and were selected for their leadership qualities to represent The Woodlawn Way! Today they selected their action team of choice and also discussed their “80th birthdays” and personal mission statements of what legacy they want to build!

Happy IT Professional’s Day to the ONE and ONLY, Kim Gauger! She’s behind the scenes working diligently to keep our computers working, NewLines teaching, and phones ringing, plus so much more. She’s a blessing to our school and is always up for a fun project and neat idea. We are thankful for her impact and all she does to create the Woodlawn Magic!

We also want to give a shout out to our district IT department, Ian Belanger, Liz Ridgeway, and all the MIS techs, who jump in to help serve our school. We appreciate you all.

This week our 3rd graders finished up their Classic Tales unit enjoying different activities that went along with their tales they read. Students rotated through Alice and Wonderland’s Mad Hatter Tea Party, Aladdin’s Magic Carpet adventure, and Frog and Toad’s Race Car challenge!

Today two special Eagles had a mystery box show up in their classroom and office! To their surprise, when they opened the box to balloons popping out and a special announcement! We are excited to announce that Woodlawn Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year is Kalani Dubberly and School Related Employee of the Year is Donna Brown! Both of these ladies represent The Woodlawn Way proudly and we are blessed they help dreams come true for our Eagles!

Friday was a perfect day for 1st Grade’s Fable Olympics! Our first graders dressed up as their favorite fable character and participated jn a few plot based Olympic Games! The moral of the morning was…who says learning can’t be fun?
