Who would have thought that a paper route in the early 1970s would have led to a career in the newspaper industry that has spanned more than 45 years? It did for Highlands News-Sun Executive Editor Romona Washington, who also serves as corporate executive editor for D-R Media. She was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Highlands News-Sun during its Best of Highlands banquet at Island View Restaurant. A full listing of all awards distributed was included in this past Saturday's Highlands News-Sun.

William Phillips, an Avon Park Red Devil, was named to the Best of Highlands County All-County Football Team's defensive line. A special section will be published June 24 sharing the names of all student athletes named as a one of the Highlands News-Sun's Best of Highlands High School Sports All-County athletes.
