Tom landing 40 km away from launch on the Ozone Zeno:

Sunday Funday Flight Report: Tom decided to go for a quick flight today. He took two tows to get up out of the tow area. The first tow had him drifting east and he wasn't getting very high, so he landed and I gave him another tow. The second tow he released at about 800 feet and it was a very slow climb, but he eventually was able to get to cloud base, which was low at 2,000 feet right above the river. He then decided to push on North across the Triangle of Doom and made it 27 at 500 feet just south of Gatorama. From there he was able to hook an nice thermal to 1800 feet and then he pressed further north along the east side of 27. There was a developing rainstorm to the West about six miles away and we were keeping a close eye on it as we were traveling north. Tom was able to get into some thermals, but nothing strong enough to take him back up to cloud base so he just pressed speed bar further north and ended up landing 40 km away from launch. It was a very nice flight and Tom said he's very thankful for his winch w***h and retrieval support woman! 🤣

Today near the stadium LZ in Roldanillo this huge pyrocumulus (fire thermal) blew up the sky and you can see an orange glider trying to run away from it. Please watch this video on YouTube to see how violently turbulent and dangerous these pyrocumuluses can be:
