June 10, 2021 Solar Eclipse

I have given some thought to how the astrological influences of the upcoming June 10 New Moon and Solar Eclipse may impact us. This New Moon happens in conjunction with the Solar Eclipse at 3:53 am PDT and they land at 19 degrees Gemini. As you may know, the astrological interpretations of eclipses pertain for at least 6 months in the future and in this case they even pertain back to the Gemini eclipse last November.

Gemini and Cancer.
First of all, Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury and it is very strong in the chart for that time here in Sonoma County. Gemini indicates a time of flowing ideas and conversations, versatility and inquisitiveness. Gemini has a tendency to liven up the most quiet environment. Cancer is also strong in the chart and indicates protectiveness, nurturing and emotional sensitivity. The qualities of both these signs may help us align with others in a communicative and emotionally sensitive manner. In addition, of course, this is also the New Moon which supports looking for new opportunities to express ourselves and to begin new projects.

The Lights and the Planets.
The Moon in our chart rules both the 3rd house (communication) and the 4th house (emotions, ancestors). The Sun in our chart rules the 5th house and its influence on creative self expression, joy and bliss. The Sun and Moon are closely tied to both rulers of the chart, Mercury and Neptune, indicating an ethereal, magical quality to our communications but also the possibility of illusion. You might seek or propose answers to questions and/or ways to achieve emotional security, objectivity and perspective. Mercury rules the second house of our values and the 6th house related to service and small animals as we perhaps act in service to the environment and/or request its service to us and our survival. Venus is in the house of communication and suggests an emphasis on family relations and strong emotional bonds within one’s own tribe, as we ally ourselves with all our relations.

Mars in Cancer lends strength to fighting for causes and people about whom we feel strongly especially as we protect our families; it rules the 12th house of the collective unconscious, spirituality and selfless service, establishing more inroads for powerful connection. Since Mars is in strong opposition to powerful Pluto, the lesson is to find balance within intensity at this time. Jupiter (expansion, truth) in Pisces in the 11th house (friends and groups) rules the 8th house (metaphysics, transformation). Saturn in Aquarius rules the 9th house of distant travel and Ageless Wisdom and it is in stressful aspect to Uranus in Ta**us (earthy and enduring) which is the defining influence for the whole of 2021. Perhaps the most pressing influence of this aspect is the need to compromise particularly in dealings with authority. Neptune in Pisces suggests expressing one’s spirituality through visioning and art.

Saros Series of Eclipses.
Eclipses observe various periodical patterns which yield information helpful to astrological interpretation, Each solar eclipse is part of a series called the Saros series that occur within a period of roughly 1,260 years and many different sequences occur during the average lifespan. The patterns they trace in our natal charts describe potentials for personal growth and karmic evolvement both for individuals and the collective. This particular Solar Eclipse in Gemini is a member of the Saros Series 5 Northern which involves sudden flashes of ideas that seem to have a psychic or unconscious flavor to them. The ideas or hunches, visions, prophetic dreams are the essence of this series and may be acted upon productively.

Sabian Symbols.
Just over 100 years ago, a psychic (Elsie Wheeler) sat down with an astrologer (Marc Edmund Jones) and recorded the channeled information pertinent to each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac. I have found these interpretations (further elucidated by Dane Rudhyar) to be particularly helpful in understanding astrological influences. These Sabian Symbols can be examined for every significant degree of a chart and can be used in a variety of divinatory ways.

With regard to this Gemini Solar Eclipse I have looked at the angles of the chart cast for our location and you may find the interpretations helpful. Regarding the next 6 months, one can look at what is in play: “The assimilation of multifarious knowledge through the synthesizing power of the mind” and “The inadequacy of past knowledge in time of crisis.” Asking the question, where are we headed: “The fervent reaching out on the part of the young of heart to new experiences.” How might we get there? “Inner rebirth through a total acceptance of the primordial values manifest in the human body and its natural functions.” And perhaps most importantly, what is our motivation for pursuing this path? Why are we proceeding? “The enjoyment of spiritual values by the soul able to familiarize itself with their implications.”

In Closing.
Delineating the major asteroids in the chart for this solar eclipse is tempting as they do have a major role to play, but this treatise already grows too long. Suffice it to say perhaps that their subtle yet powerful undertones support the conclusions we’ve already drawn from the lights and the planets. I appreciate your consideration of these thoughts and hope you find them helpful as you navigate your path forward.

03/10/2021

The Pisces New Moon is approaching this Saturday close to 2 am PST. These astrological influences offer us powerful energies for visioning a future beneficial for all our relations.

All the planets are arranged in a cluster of 120 degrees indicating a strong concentration on our own issues rather than reaching out to others. Most of the planets are in the social and transpersonal signs with a focus on Pisces with the Sun & Moon joined by Venus and Neptune there. Additionally the ruler of Pisces, Neptune, is the final dispositor of the chart giving it extra potency.

The element of Water is especially strong now, emphasizing our feelings and our intuition. Neptunian and Pisces energies amplify those watery sensitivities. They are compassionate, loving, mystical, psychic, visionary, artistic, poetic and imaginative — characterized by the spiritual longing for connection with numinous realms beyond the earthly plane. At this Pisces New Moon, we will call on the Water Divas and focus on these energies that function best in service to the world and move us to more interconnectedness with Mother Gaia, more nurturing rain, and all our relations.

All of the elements are represented in this New Moon chart with the exception of fire which is usually the inspiration, the spark to initiate and move forward. Instead, the energies suggest sitting with, being with ourselves and focusing inward. In fact, this entire time of pandemic lockdown has been a good time for our souls to commune with spirit. It remains a call to slow down and return to a mode of living that begins with life itself, drawing sustenance from nature and the cosmos as we take this time to align ourselves with these sources of power.

Meanwhile, the asteroid Vesta stands alone on the opposite side of the chart from all the other heavenly bodies in a relationship with each of them. She is the handle of the basket pattern that is formed in the chart. It As such, she is in a powerful position and indicates the kind of energy we are most frequently expressing and through which we seek satisfaction at this time. Vesta, the goddess of the hearth fire, controls the basic vitality of the home and immediate community, though she is committed first and foremost to tending her own inner flame, her own completeness in service of the goddess. Vesta is in her home sign of Virgo and they both represent healing and self care. As we heal and nurture ourselves we heal the planet.

By contrast, we are on the verge of Ostara. The Spring Equinox bursts upon the scene nine days from now in a much more active manner. Our peaceful and grounded time of visioning will help prepare us for those seeds of intention we wish to sow at that time.

Between now and 2025, three of the outer planets will begin moving into the personal signs of Aries, Ta**us and Gemini that represent our individuality, our persona. Uranus moved there ahead of the rest in 2010 heralding rapid changes and chaos as well as increased use of cyber-everything. Those radical revolutionary energies became more manifest when Uranus entered Ta**us in 2019. Our very foundation, our security in our personal lives was upended before we had an opportunity to come to terms with these changes— as we would normally be able to roughly anticipate and integrate them within our own psyches and in our personal lives. As the other outer planets follow Uranus, we will be able to more easily integrate these changes.

Blessed be

SUMMER SOLSTICE 2020
Astrological Influences Looking Ahead

As the wheel turns we have again reached the time of Summer Solstice. A time when the fiery light of day ends its dominance and now precedes the moist deep darkness of the approaching night. All the luscious fruits of summer are ripening and as you gather this bounty, it is a great time to pause and reflect on what you are grateful for, what you want to bring into your life, and what you want to release going forward.

These are times of massive change astrologically. Numerous outer planet transits that have presaged global transformations individually in the past now combine to create the mother of all transformations. We would be wise to consider that true revolution may be upon us.

Pluto has been in the sign of Capricorn since 2008 and will remain there until 2023. The last time that Pluto was in Capricorn, from 1762 to 1777 we had the American Revolution and the Industrial Revolution gained traction.

Neptune has been in Pisces since 2011 and will remain there until 2026. The last time it was in Pisces, from 1847 to 1862, we saw the beginning of Communism, the US Confederacy formed and Darwin came out with his theories of evolution.

Uranus started its journey in Ta**us in 2018 and will continue there until 2026. The last time it was in Ta**us was 1934 to 1941 and we were in the midst of the Great Depression and World War II started.

Saturn entered Aquarius in March this year. The last time it was in this sign 1991-1992 we saw the Rodney King riots.

Revolutions — political, industrial and scientific; economic transformations; riots and more. The times are ripe for change. We know one thing only, that this is the time of a Great Turning, of Great Unknowns. We are ushering in a New Era. There will be unknown potentials and challenges arising.

We are called to bring forth the best of all possible worlds for all beings and for our Mother Gaia. In order to be prepared, you will want to ask yourself throughout this year, “What do I need to release in order to make space for what truly matters?”

Saturn and Pluto are Conjunct in Capricorn January 2019 to January 2021
Saturn and Pluto are conjunct approximately every 33–38 years and the influence lasts slightly over two years. This conjunction last occurred in the sign of Capricorn in 1518 when Spain’s King Charles I opened the trans-Atlantic slave trade on a massive scale. The Saturn/Pluto conjunction can be seen as a “global Saturn return” of a karmic nature that applies to the whole world.

It represents a constrained and slow implosion when structures built by Saturn need to undergo the test of time. During this period of testing the pressure has increased to match the deep volcanic nature of Pluto. Anything false and superficial is likely to collapse. As societal structures decay and break down, there is more room to build new foundational elements that ensure the health and survival of the bigger system.

As we initiate this new cycle, the cathartic intensity forces us to dive into our shadow side, to endure. It helps us develop inner focus, determination and courage. We are challenged to persist in the face of opposition, learn to surrender to what’s out of our control and nurture our feelings of grief caused by loss.

Jupiter in Capricorn December 2, 2019 to December 19,2020
Jupiter teaches through expansion and Capricorn brings karmic lessons requiring us to humbly confront truths, to move beyond judgment and duality. Jupiter demands that we grow into and embody the divine consciousness within. It is time to commit to a path of giving structure to an altruistic vision for humanity, one of wisdom, kindness, compassion and temperance, as we continue to explore our own legacy to the world.

Saturn enters Aquarius 3/21/20 until early July, retrogrades back into Capricorn, then enters Aquarius again 12/17/2020 until
Saturn in the Earth sign Capricorn for the past 2 years has signified a focus on material security and consolidation of resources that has been resistant to change. As it begins its move into the Air sign Aquarius, Saturn brings disruption to established orders and dramatic changes in collective ideas and the way we communicate. Saturn here reorders structures and boundaries to make connections, distribute information and develop innovations. Change is in the air. It does give us the capacity to detach from emotional overwhelm in order to analyze the next steps that are necessary for growth and thus can be a source of some strength during this time.

Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Ta**us begins March, 2020 through May, 2020 then picks up again and continues in full force throughout 2021 and 2022
There are sudden and unexpected twists that force us to do something different or free ourselves from old habits. Rules and limitations can feel more challenging to tolerate, but attempts to assert our individuality, freedom, and originality tend to undermine our feelings of groundedness and security. Differences in opinion cause frustration and delays and people may seem less reliable. Uranus in Ta**us will bring down old societal structures. Historically, there have been recessed economic conditions and high unemployment. We are challenged to strike a balance between convention and innovation which will lead to new, more creative paths or solutions as we give form and structure to our ideals in the quest for progress.

Jupiter and Pluto conjunction in Capricorn April, 2020 through November,2020
The conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto dredges up issues with societal structures in need of innovative reform, particularly global economics and systematic oppression. In Capricorn, it taps into the roots of form to discover what truly matters and churns visions of what to manifest from subconscious awareness. There is a need to adjust aspirations to contend with limitations of material resources, available time and space. We see extreme ambition for personal power and these crises bring revisioning of what needs to be nurtured and developed, and what shed and let go.

It is a time to birth ambition and passion from the core. This conjunction invites us to participate in moments of creation, to become absorbed in bridging the immaterial with the material and bring imaginal ideas of the essential, inner purpose you truly desire to achieve into manifestation, without being overly attached to external validation and expectations.

Lunar Nodes shift into Gemini and Sagittarius June 5, 2020 until January 28, 2022
The lunar nodes are a mathematical calculation of the shifting intersection between our orbit on earth with the orbit of the moon and they demarcate eclipses when new moon or full moon aligns in proximity to them. South node in Sagittarius unveils old, familiar issues in need of digesting, decomposing, harvesting and release. With the South node in Sag, Jupiter will offer counsel on resolving and wisely drawing from our beliefs and the way we find meaning in life to rechannel the old into creative expression and spiritual development.

The North node in Gemini points to new choices and growth, ambitious desires and absorption of new material. We are pulled away from preconceived plans and must remain open to being led in new directions to receive new information. It is a time to value curiosity and be willing to question dogmatic viewpoints, listen to and integrate new perspectives.

There can be a tendency to hold beliefs and opinions without gathering the facts, to being self-righteous and running roughshod over others’ feelings, to rushing through life and possessing excess nervous energy, and to lack tact in our relationships with others. We can easily crack under imagined pressures, and we are too often in a hurry for fear that our freedom will be curtailed if we stop long enough to gather facts and consider the details of everyday life. We need to learn to listen to others so that we discover the value of true communication and exchange, and to see both sides of a situation. We want to have meaningful and intelligent exchanges with others, and we want to teach others as well. But in order for us to succeed with these things, we need to learn that true learning and exchanges can only come when we listen to others. Learning to slow down, to be sensitive to social graces and networks, and to sensitize ourselves to others’ needs and communications without fear of being tied down, will release us from some of our nervous tension and help us achieve more happiness and inner balance. Take the initiative to connect, stay curious, be adaptable, and lighten up your approach to life.

Venus Retrograde May 13, 2020, Direct June 25, 2020 at 6 Gemini
Venus retrograde in Gemini has incited revisioning and revaluation in relationships. We may have seen deep seated changes in our underlying values and finances and the way they manifest into aspirations in both relationships and in our work in the world.

Lunar Eclipse Sagittarius June 5, 2020
Expect the unexpected for the next 6 months. Moon is conjunct the south node of Uranus, and sun is conjunct its north node. Mars in Pisces is square the eclipse and it blurs the distinction between true/false, fact/fiction, nartural/artificial, and one/the other. When negative, Mars can attack by stealth or create disillusionment or loss. When it is positive, Mars creates synthesis that draws from the best of all worlds. in Pisces, Mars pertains to masses, hospitals, rescue missions, and large scale events. Mercury in Cancer squares Chiron in Aries during the eclipse and that increases the emotional reactive element pertaining to key issues. There has been a domino effect of Covid 19 around the world. Stakes are high and the deck is loaded. In Sagittarius, the lunar eclipse increases or escalates everything — protests, social contagion, market action, politics, weather, etc.

Mercury Retrograde June 17, 2020 to July 12, 2020
Mercury will be in the watery sign of Cancer from May until August 5th. In the sign Cancer, a retrograde Mercury delves into the past and recalls it over and over, continuously returning to the family home and hearth. We tend to probe and question the emotional undercurrents and unconscious patterns that underlie our perception and communications. It may be difficult for people to let go of old and painful memories and forgive even childhood enemies because unpleasant events and unkind words are often relived. This placement asks the question “Do we want to repeat the past?” It will also highlight areas of tension within the home. If you have been neglecting issues in your family life, this is the time to bring those issues to the forefront in order to be resolved. With Venus retrograde after the lunar nodes shift, major lessons will involve finding new ways to communicate our emotional needs within relationships. It is a time to find our home within ourselves, creating an inner stability that will allow us to flourish in the long term. There is an emphasis also on nourishment and nurturing, diet, food, water, safety, and security on all levels.

Solar Eclipse and the Summer Solstice in Cancer, June 20, 2020
This eclipse coincides with the summer solstice. At the solar eclipse, intuition (the Moon), wordless and irrational, overpowers your creative center and power (the Sun). The result is a bit like a short-circuit of your internal wiring. the fundamental laws of the universe no longer apply. We will feel the baselines shifting as reality moves along a fluid course. Solar eclipses seem much more physically affecting than lunar ones, more unnerving, and the past themes they evoke – themes from nine, eighteen years ago – are anything but subtle. They are big events, and evoke the feeling that something big is changing in the landscape of your life. You sense that something is trying to get your attention.

People from the past or the present appear on the scene to behave in inexplicable ways. The person you used to be, the one you thought you’d outgrown, is trotted out in front of you as a reminder that you really haven’t changed all that much. What is the part of you that you’re trying to disown? Let the Moon guide you, like a wise mother, toward self-acceptance and humility.
The awakening of the feminine force of fierce love is a hallmark of our times – especially since 2018, when a series of eclipses in Cancer began. This New Moon solar eclipse will be the last eclipse in the sign of the Great Mother, concluding this series. As the Sun stands still at the Solstice, it opens a powerful portal through which new energies can flow to Earth. And, since this solar eclipse is sandwiched between two lunar eclipses, its effects are heightened. Solar eclipses often coincide with major turning points like the downfall of rulers, especially when falling at the powerful zero degree of Cancer – and even more so for a Cancerian country like the U.S. (The last time there was a solar eclipse on the day of the Cancer Solstice was June 21, 2001 – a few months before the shocking events of Sept. 11.) In other words, this eclipse is a mother!

Mercury is retrograde during this time and things could get more tricky than they already are but that may not be a bad thing. Miraculous things are born from chaos. No matter how crazy life gets, you can rest assured that it’s all part of our awakening to power. The Divine Feminine is arising from a long slumber, and we’re experiencing the birth pains of a new world. Birth is messy and chaotic! Yet it has a very sacred purpose. During this potent period, get back to your roots.Call on strong (especially female) ancestors who made it through great challenges.Take a “divine pause” as you search your deepest self for wisdom. Stay connected to the Earth and your body, and treat yourself gently. And, remember your true nature as a co-creator with the Divine!

Neptune Retrograde in Pisces June 23, 2020 to November 28, 2020
When Neptune is direct you look for experiences of oneness outside of yourself, and when Neptune is retrograde you seek oneness within yourself. During this phase, you may experience heightened intuition, lucid dreaming, and an increased interest in the supernatural. The retrograde in Pisces represents the tendency to disconnect from reality. The foggy nature of Neptune becomes removed and the truth becomes visible. Fears and feelings of anxiousness may increase when the fog clears and reality sets in. The deeper you have descended into escapism, the greater the shock may be as toxic behaviors and addictions re-emerge.

This cycle brings the total to SIX planets currently in retrograde, making it an ideal time for deep personal review and introspection. By connecting with your Spiritual source you can use this opportunity to face and deal with the issues you have denied and dismissed. With the planet Mars close by in Pisces, this cycle can stimulate our Spiritual drive. Neptune in retrograde can help you discover the source of your pain which can be a catalyst for spiritual growth. Neptune wants to dissolve our ego so that we can be at one with ourselves, others, and our Spiritual Source, in the light of newfound personal truth. The illusion of separation is lifted and the message is that we are all united.

Mars Retrograde in Aries September 9, 2020 until November 13, 2020
Whatever was set in motion in June and July further intensifies. Slow burn, even simmering discontent, is the dominant theme of the final quarter of the year as it squares Pluto and Saturn. This can be frustrating and block ones motivation for forward focus, but it creates the potential for realigning with ones most deeply felt desires.

Mars square Saturn/Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn September, 2020
Numerous polarizing conflicts arise throughout the world, both sides are overly defensive and persecuting the other side. Personally, it is beneficial to take responsibility for exploring and integrating one’s shadow, thereby being less prone to project onto others and create additional conflict. Have compassion for those who struggle. Claim responsibility for your own behavior.

Lunar Eclipse in Gemini November 13, 2020

Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius December 14, 2020

Setting the stage for long anticipated conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the first degree of Aquarius on the Winter Solstice.

Jupiter/Saturn conjunction at 1 degree Aquarius December 21, 2020
Establishing an astrological era of Jupiter and Saturn in air signs that will continue until the year 2159.

This new cycle holds extraordinary significance. It remains in the same element for 200 years, Since 1802 these conjunctions have been in earth signs, the final one occurred on May 28, 2000 in Ta**us. Earth signifies a focus on material security and the consolidation of resources that is resistant to change.

Air brings disruption to established orders and dramatic changes in collective ideas and the way we communicate. This Great Conjunction every 20 years is the best method for demarcating historical eras in traditional astrology. At these times, one feels the intensity of old forms resurfacing for resolution or death and anticipation builds as one sense the fertility of new growth beginning to take shape. This transpired in 1980 and again in 2000.

Combine expansive/imaginative vision with structure and discipline need to manifest results and strip away the inessential. Generosity fortunate opportunities, egoic greed and delusions of grandeur. Saturn contemplative focus trim excess and strengthen what’s ripening. Inspirational revitalization to mediate negative side that brings fear over limitations and obstacles, leading to depressive stagnation. Constant balancing act of tempering between Jupiter and Saturn with a need to shift in between the synthesizing growth of Jupiter and the methodical reordering of Saturn.

They will also form a square with Uranus in Ta**us. Lightening bolts of Jupiter and Uranus will not only bring down old societal structures but impel us to release old personal dreams and drama we’ve been attached to. New challenges and unknown potential arising with this new era and we need to make space in our lives.

We collectively enter an era of Jupiter and Saturn uniting in air signs. Constant balancing act of tempering between Jupiter and Saturn with a need to shift in between the synthesizing growth of Jupiter and the methodical reordering of Saturn.

Pisces New Moon March 6, 2019
~Nikki Dohn~

The New Moon is conjunct Neptune in Pisces, its natural ruler, so it amplifies that energy making us even more intuitive, imaginative, empathic, compassionate, artistic and spiritual. Moon/Neptune plays a hauntingly ethereal tune. Mercury is going retrograde in the last degree of Pisces on the night before the new moon, amplifying all that dreamy, ungrounded watery energy. And Pisces is ruled by Neptune and Jupiter and those two planets are in strong aspect to each other throughout the year. Mars and Saturn, though, are both in Earth signs and are positively aspected, providing energy and drive in a disciplined, productive way. Venus, the ruler of relationships, has been at the forefront lately, but it goes into Aquarius on Thursday allowing us to break free of constraints and oppressive obligations to others, so we can share our values and be noticed for who we are in more emotionally supportive groups and relationships.

Uranus is leaving Aries where it has been since 2011, as we come to a sort of completion involving seeking freedom and finding our own truth. Maybe you’ve defied societal prejudices or limited definitions of yourself. Maybe you’ve made bold choices or had significant life changes that shifted the path you were traveling. It has been about making changes so you could step into your power and into the driver’s seat of your life.

But Uranus enters Ta**us on the same day as this New Moon, beginning a new phase that will last until 2026. This slow moving planet creates a ripple effect felt throughout the entire cosmos and brings a new energy for all of us to explore. This potentiates the energies of this New Moon even further for bringing wise guidance for radical yet grounded change. Now we’ll be given new lessons and this time it’s about our feelings of security and stability. Uranus longs for changes and Ta**us longs for things to stay the same so there may be a push-pull feeling and you may find it difficult to make or accept certain changes. We are all being asked to trust ourselves a little more, going deeper and stepping out with more freedom and a little risk. The ground beneath us may be shaking, but this is how we grow and learn.

Pisces Moon is great for healing ourselves with any form of hydrotherapy. Use water to get into the flow. Go swimming and keep hydrated. Spend the new moon on Wednesday in good, clean company and clear as crystal places. We often like being alone, sleeping, watching visual media, listening to music, indulging in spiritual or romantic revery. We may be especially aware of our deep emotional capacity, our generosity, caring, faith, and empathy. Be very flexible, there are hidden blessings in that openness. Pisces rules the feet, toes, pineal gland, endorphins and melatonin, so provide them all with extra care. Pisces colors are mauve, lilac, purple, violet, and sea green.
