Raising Gifted Children in the Age of AI
March 8, 2026 - 1:00 p.m. Pacific
Artificial intelligence is transforming how children learn and create. Gifted kids can push boundaries in ways that both excite and concern us. More importantly, gifted kids face unique challenges with AI that the generic "teach critical thinking" advice doesn't address. Their advanced cognitive abilities, intense curiosities, and asynchronous development create specific considerations.
The AI landscape is changing rapidly, and there are no definitive answers yet to how we need to respond as parents. But we need to start this conversation as a community.
Tune in for our upcoming webinar as an expert panel, featuring an educator, psychotherapist, and a gifted student herself, join together in a candid conversation about navigating the age of AI when it comes to gifted kids.
By the end of this session, parents will:
*Understand why talking about AI needs to be part of your gifted child's learning journey
*Learn practical strategies for supporting gifted kids in using AI thoughtfully
*Have conversation starters and talking points for discussing AI with their gifted kids
*Hear multiple perspectives on the opportunities and risks specific to gifted learners
This event is free and Mensa membership is not required to attend.

You've heard how AI is often billed as a "black box," mysterious, inscrutable, out of our control. But what if the real mystery isn't what's inside the machine, but what's hidden behind it? Spoiler: It's less about the neural net and more about what companies choose not to show us, from the training data to the design decisions that shape how AI actually works.

We have some excellent libraries in our state.
Everyone knows you can save money on books by checking them out at the library instead of buying them. But did you know that libraries can help you save on other things too?
In some locations, you can borrow tools (saving a purchase at the hardware store), take free language classes and even get free tickets to local museums and attractions.
Here are 7 surprising ways the library can help you save money: https://n.pr/3KOBtOx

Any readers out there? NPR is collecting a list of books that people read in high school that had an impact on their lives
Tell us about the books that shaped you
We ask our audience: Was there a book you read during high school that helped shape who you are today? Which book do you think all high schoolers should read now? We'll publish replies in a few weeks.
