It’s time for bugs!! 🐞🪲 This month our curriculum theme is bugs, and we’re learning all about these little critters that do such big things for the Earth. Today has been spent learning how we can interact with bugs in a safe and respectful way. We love these little guys ❤️🐜

A collection of meal boards from the last couple months, because mealtimes are about so much more than just fueling your body (even though that’s important too!). Food is sensory exploration and experimentation, it’s art and community, it’s self-advocacy and independence. Food is love and learning 🫶🏼

Results 🌸🪻🎨 Messy, unpredictable, and so so fun! This project had us experimenting with natural pigments and textures from flower petals, exploring symmetry and composition, and learning about cause and effect in a very hands-on way.
Art is important in early childhood education for so many reasons, not least of which is the opportunities it provides for developing a ton of different skills. Art projects like this encourage cognitive skills like patience, problem solving, and spatial reasoning, as well as exercising fine motor skills and growing self confidence. Just in case you needed another reason to love kids’ art 💖

Today’s finds on our nature walk 🪻🌸🌺🌷🌼🌹 Spring is so full of new and exciting things, both big and small! These flowers will be going to good use in some art projects we have planned, stay tuned for results 🎨
The act of creating art, especially for little kids, is way more process over product, and for us the process starts with gathering our materials (usually from nature). Kids are involved every step of the way, making choices and experimenting to learn more about their world. We don’t know how our art projects will turn out, and that’s the fun of it!

Little kids are so good at reminding us how dang cool the world really is 🌎🫶🏼 Next time you go for a walk, take a second to touch moss and experience the world like you’re doing it for the first time (we all are, grownups just tend to forget)
