UIHI is excited to announce that our director, Abigail Echo-Hawk, will be speaking at the 9th Annual Innovation and Technology Law Conference hosted by Seattle University School of Law.

On June 5, the conference will focus on Indigenous Perspectives on AI: Appropriation, Regulation, and Innovation. The event will explore critical issues surrounding AI governance, Indigenous data sovereignty, ethics, and emerging technology. Abigail will speak on the panel discussing Data Sovereignty and the Ethics of AI.

During Sexual Assault Awareness month, we're highlighting important resources addressing sexual violence in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities.

Storytelling can be healing. In 2021, UIHI released Supporting the Sacred: Womxn of Resilience, a report detailing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Native femme-identifying survivors of sexual violence. The report also outlines what community organizations can do to make a difference in their communities.

We thank these survivors for sharing their sacred stories, their ways of healing, and for showing others they are not alone.
