SSA Statement

The Somali Student Association at Seattle Central stands in solidarity with the family of Hamza, a running start student at Seattle Central College who passed away on Saturday. Our condolences and deepest thoughts are with his family and friends. Hamza was one of us, a member of SSA, and we were privileged and blessed to know him. As a result of our colleague's passing and subsequent events, SSA had an emergency meeting on Tuesday, where college administrators including interim president DR. Sheila Edwards Lange, was invited.

At the moment the president and the staff of Seattle central have assured us that they stand with the family and the somali students who are going through this difficult time. Although we were disappointed with the school's initial response and handling of the case. DR. Lange has promised to provide full support including counseling.

The Somali Student Association demands justice for Hamza, we want the police to investigate all possibilities including murder and hate crime. we do not currently feel safe on campus because a killer could potentially be sitting with us in class. Also we believe SPD tried to cover up the story without detailed investigation or interest. We demand justice for Hamza and a safe environment for every student of color.

The Somali Student Association Club (SSA) in conjunction with BSU, MSA and other clubs will be holding a Public Prayer/Support Circle, Wednesday 12/9/15 at 12pm.

The Seattle Central Somali Student Association (SSA) in conjunction with other student clubs will be holding a Public Prayer/Support Circle tomorrow, Wednesday at 12PM at Seattle Central.All are welcome to attend and show support.

SSA in Bellevue College will be performing. If anyone is available to participate please feel free to contact me for more information. Thank you!

Hey Everyone! I hope you're all excited for the upcoming plans we have this quarter! Just to make this whole page official, we finally got our poster done all thanks too Eric Murillo! The meeting time and location isn't for sure yet, but it will be soon. Information will be constantly updated, so please stay tuned :)

Thank you guys for showing up today at the SSA meeting! It was a great opportunity for us to finally meet each other and go over the fun plans we have coming up in the future Were looking forward to the up coming events we have planned and we hope you and your friends will continue to be apart of this great organization. This wouldn't have been possible without you guys.

SCC students, by now you all should have received an email with information regarding our first meet up! If you didn't get one make sure to fill out the SSA paper that requires your info and times you're available for future meetings Insha'allah & turn them in.
