On MEdicaid and Upcoming Work Requirements:

"The evidence is not equally strong on every question.

The best evidence we have concerns coverage. The strongest real-world test found substantial coverage losses, many of them among people who already met the requirement or qualified for an exemption.

The evidence on employment is thinner. Supporters point to projections and evidence from welfare-to-work programs. Critics point to Medicaid-specific studies that have not found employment gains.

Reasonable people can weigh those findings differently. But if we're going to have a serious conversation about this policy, we should start with what the evidence actually says: https://lnkd.in/eZWXHwAe

Research and Equity Advisory Council for Housing Insecurities (REACHI) at Common Spirit Health was recognized at NASEM Discussion paper page 33 along with many other community related entities that are doing the work on the ground.

https://nam.edu/perspectives/centering-what-matters-aligning-action-with-individual-and-community-health-goals/he.

REACHI truly incorporates voices of persons with lived experience all as leaders in the work that is done. Congratulations!!

quoted from Ji Im
"A new National Academy of Medicine Perspectives paper highlights how this misalignment, driven by fragmented systems, lack of trust, and misaligned incentives, limits progress on health outcomes and equity. The paper outlines key drivers of this misalignment, including limited definitions of health, lack of trust, and poorly aligned financial incentives, and presents actionable solutions to move toward a more people-centered system.

🌱 Here are a few key takeaways:
→ Acting on responses to “what matters to you?” Not just asking.
→ Goals aren’t static, but care models often are
→ Fragmentation is also a fragmentation of “what success means”
→ Lived experience is still underused as system intelligence
→ Transformation doesn’t start with new services. It starts with designing systems that can align with what people and communities define as health".
