This page has been quiet for quite some time. The group is still active, and this page should get more updates in the coming weeks. To those who have reached out for more information. I thank you for your interest and hope we have responded to all of you. If anyone was missed my apologies, and I hope you will try again or respond here.

We are having a last minute "open house" / crafting / social gathering for members of the VA living history community in the Seattle area as well as anyone interested in getting involved with our group or just getting some more information about what we do. We are planning to meet at a private home in North Seattle this Sunday 10/4 from approximately 11-2.

If interested please send us a message or comment here and we will send you the address directly. Thanks!

This is a new page / project started by one of our group members. They plan to share their ongoing projects, link quality content of possible interest to those who enjoy this hobby, create tutorials centered on Viking Age crafts and skills, and ultimately to document the development of a small Viking Age homestead to be located in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Fornvegir Vikings We are a Viking Age living history, reenactment, and experimental archaeology group dedicated to accurately representing "a day in the life" of the time period we study (~793-1066).

We are about to kick off the 2017 season, so stay tuned for details. In the meantime, here's a sneak peek of parts of a non-ferrous metalworking kit one of our members has been putting together for displays / demos this year.

Topics to include seasoning / sealing the group's new cooking cauldron (it's fancy), portrayal development, and hopefully everyone will bring what they are working on to show it off and get a little work done while we are all together. New people are welcome as are any visitors curious about our group. Just message us an introduction and we will share the address.

Gathering this Sunday 12-5 (or so) at Mike's house in Shoreline. Bring whatever you feel like working on and get input, or help, or just hang out. This is also a great time to get started on a project. Festival season is here, and we all have lots to do before we are ready for public shows. Some members of other local groups have been invited to come and say 'hello'. Snacks will be provided and if the weather cooperates we can enjoy it on the patio around the fire pit. I hope to see you there. If you are local and interested in attending shoot me a message for the address.

We had a great time and learned much at the Glamfolk's PLU demo and display yesterday. We look forward to seeing more and further connecting with this talented and dedicated group of living historians at their upcoming large event in Poulsbo, WA at the end of May.

In other news, our regular Sundvirki crafting and kit gatherings will resume next Sunday at 1pm. Topic still to be settled on, but likely it will be a bring your current project work / social. We have much to discuss.

If you are out and about in the Tacoma, WA area this weekend stop by the Norwegian Heritage Festival at Pacific Lutheran University's Scandinavian Cultural Center. Lots of activities, food, demonstrations, and a living history display hosted by the Glamfolk. Some Sundvirki members will be attending to connect with fellow Viking Age reenactors in the area and to help in any way we can. Should be a good time!

We are a little out of sync with our standard meeting dates, but will resume with back to back Sunday meetings on the 1st and 8th of May. We are still considering topics, but one week will be a general personal project and crafting gathering / social and the other will likely be a work day for the group's firebox and forge / casting furnace. I am hopeful that we will have some guests from other area groups attending one or both, so these will be a good chance to work on kit and meet other living historians in the area.

We had another great crafting and basic kit gathering this past weekend. The topic was period footwear, and strides were made to get members closer to ready for their basic kit checks. Next gathering tentatively in two weekends, but we might get off schedule slightly with travel schedules and a few of us planning to attend the demo at PLU on the 23rd of April.
