Studio Syria distributed pencils, activity notebooks, colored pencils and the much prized colored markers to Syrian children at the Makani Center yesterday. Thank you to all who donated - especially The Pollination Project! Much love!

On the roof of the Makani Center in Amman girls from Syria receive athletic training and coaching in mind-body balance. This is part of the education program helping them to catch up after missing school for a long time due to the war. Unfortunately they are not permitted to play soccer on the small rooftop "field" as neighbors looking down on the roof from apartment buildings feel it is improper for girls to play in public. The Makani Center is hoping to raise money for a tarpaulin "roof" to provide privacy. Anyone interested in taking this on can contact Studio Syria. It should cost about $1000. Soccer fans?

Studio Syria was happy to help our Seattle friends and neighbors - the Salaam Cultural Museum - by delivering their donation of reading glasses to the Makani Center for refugees. We were told there are often requests for these. Way to go SCM! Great work as always.

Jean visited the Makani center in Marg al Hamman, Amman today and participated in a life skills training session with this wonderful group of refugees and local women being trained in problem solving, community building, and other life skills important for displaced people.

We are pleased to have been awarded a grant from the Pollination Project! Thank you to this wonderful organization for allowing us to continue our work bringing creative opportunities to displaced Syrians and others living in need in Jordan.
We gave an additional $200,000 to 71 of our best projects all over the world. The funds came from donations from people like you and our very own staff at The Pollination Project who gave because they are inspired by our grantees. Every year, we strive to raise more, so we can support every deserving project applies.

Rita at Salaam Cultural Center (Seattle) has reminded me that they are loading a shipping container on 3rd Feb at 10am. they need help carrying boxes. It's brief and fun. Skip the gym and help out!
There is also a diaper drive on the 28th Jan at the Muslim American Association of Puget Sound. Please share.

Hello Studio Syria friends. Some of the artists in Zaatari Camp are asking for help to sell their art. There are a couple of different ways we could do this from here in the USA but they both demand a lot of time to organize. Jean is looking for help to work on this.
1) If you have time and interest to set up an art show here in Seattle please let us know.
2) Or if you feel like constructing an on-line shop that would be amazing too.
There are many cross border hurdles to work through with either venture. Your time would be unpaid. But would make a lot of people happy.
Drop a note here and we can start a discussion.
