Kylie Kypreos spent her life giving.
A teacher at Catharine Blaine K-8 for 27 years, Kylie poured herself into her students and the community around her. After her unexpected death in April, our community came together to celebrate her life and support her husband, Brian, and their daughter.
If Kylie touched your life through her teaching, friendship, kindness, advocacy, or generosity, please consider contributing to support the family she loved so deeply: https://gofund.me/029c87674
Kylie believed deeply in showing up for people, advocating for what mattered, and creating warmth and stability wherever she could. She and Brian opened their home to foster unaccompanied refugee minors from Africa, extending the same care and stability beyond the classroom. Friends and family knew her as someone who cared fiercely, listened generously, and gave her time, energy, and heart without hesitation.
Thank you for honoring Kylie’s life and helping carry forward the care she gave so freely to others.

Students in the Spanish enrichment class at Catharine Blaine K-8 are wrapping up their yearlong language immersion program.
The classes are taught by The Language Link and conducted entirely in Spanish. The Language Link brings over 22 years of experience teaching language classes in public schools.
The thematic curriculum includes crafts, activities, and songs to expand students' vocabulary and master conversational expressions.
Earlier this month, classes learned about a dance called "jarabe tapatío," sombreros, and grammar rules and common conversational phrases involving the days of the week.
Fun fact: In the Spanish-speaking world the calendar week traditionally starts on Monday rather than Sunday.

When your child breaks a rule or misbehaves, do you feel unsure what consequences to impose?
Catharine Blaine K-8 school counselor, Tammy Fisher, PhD, made a guest appearance on the podcast "Parenting in the Screen Age" to discuss why involving kids in setting their own consequences leads to better outcomes than handed-down punishments.
Dr. Fisher has been an educator for 36 years and the author of two books: Fearless Parenting and There's Always Something Going Right.
On the episode, Dr. Fisher provides a roadmap for addressing broken rules and digs into consequences for real scenarios. For example, when a teen spends excessive time with an AI companion through video gaming, another who secretly subscribed to Snapchat Plus on a parent's credit card, and a child who lies about homework. She also offers advice to parents when their kid gets into trouble at school.
