Explorer West Middle School Since 1996, Explorer West Middle School has nurtured, supported, and challenged students during the critical middle school years.

Featuring rigorous academics, small class sizes, diverse enrichment opportunities, and a robust outdoor education program. For over 25 years, Explorer West has offered an innovative and challenging program for grades 6 through 8. Our faculty and staff focus on the individual student to meet them where they are, build on their strengths, and support areas of growth. We are small by design; our high staff-to-student ratio and small class sizes allow us to connect with students individually. Our unique community includes:

Collaborative learning environment with small class sizes (17 student average)

Faculty and staff are dedicated to the school’s mission and working with middle school-age students. Outdoor education that inspires leadership and life skills

Confidence-building studio art, drama, music, and Latin classes

Social-emotional learning, including mixed-grade advisory groups and peer mentoring

Inclusive community from 27 zip codes around Seattle

Financial aid program and affordable tuition
