Supply Chain Transportation & Logistics Master's 04/20/2026

Col. (Ret.) Mark Vitantonio joined us last week for Leading Logistics in the Fog: Lessons in Supply Chain Resilience from a Military Evacuation Case Study, drawing on his experience supporting military evacuation planning in Beirut as conditions escalated and U.S. citizens were advised to evacuate. Planning focused on the potential movement of more than 70,000 civilians amid rapidly shifting conditions, limited authority, and evolving information.

The discussion focused on the operational layer: how decisions are structured without full visibility, how surge capacity is modeled in real time, and how coordination holds across organizations as timelines compress.

We’re grateful to Mark for sharing his experience and contributing to the range of perspectives in our community. We regularly host sessions like these with leaders across logistics, infrastructure, transportation, and industry, connecting students directly to their work and the decision-making that defines real-world operations.

We're live for a webinar on Logistics in the Fog: Lessons in Supply Chain Resilience from a Military Evacuation Case Study, featuring Colonel (Ret.) Mark Vitantonio.

Amid escalating tensions in Beirut, with commercial flights canceled and U.S. citizens urgently advised to depart Lebanon, Colonel (Ret.) Mark Vitantonio led comprehensive evacuation reception planning efforts in theater and afloat to prepare for the potential relocation of more than 70,000 U.S. civilians. While civilians were not ultimately physically relocated, he directed the operational design, reception planning, capacity modeling, and multi-domain coordination required should evacuation become necessary — all under conditions of limited authority, constrained resources, and rapidly evolving information.
