🎨 There will be free food (), face paint (), book giveaways ( ) and so many more fun activities for the entire family. We have partnered with 25+ organizations, vendors and public officials' offices to bring you the Seattle Education Forum Block Party, a continuation of our conversation last October before election season at Rainier Beach High School.

🅿️ Parking:
We have free parking available at the DSHS building across the street here 899 19th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122. Public transportation highly recommended.

☀️Weather:
The high on June 23 will be 85 degrees. We will have coolers with lots of water for everyone. Please stay hydrated and cool!

Coalition members! Wondering what the commonly used FEPP, CBO or SRO acronyms stand for and what they mean? There are a lot of terms in organizing work that need a clear definition. We've compiled a glossary into one comprehensive resource with terms categorized into four parts:

Our Youth Leadership and Advocacy Program participants have officially graduated!! ✨

Through the program, we shift power dynamics by making youth the decision-makers. This year’s cohort is made up of 18 student participants ranging from 3 Southeast Seattle high schools: Rainier Beach, Cleveland, and Franklin.

Through research and conversations, they established criteria for selecting organizations: one that is local and smaller in scale, student-centered or student-led, addresses root causes rather than symptoms, impacts youth beyond just education, and has demonstrated credibility and community trust.

In the last session, they presented and discussed their findings with each other, advocated for their preferred candidates, and collectively decided which organizations to fund and at what level.

They decided to fund:

🍎The Good Foot Collective: $5,000
🍎FEEST: $3,000 FEEST
🍎SafeFutures Youth Center: $2,000 SafeFutures Youth Center

There's a new timeline for the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) Levy Implementation and Evaluation Plan. The published schedule now includes multiple opportunities for public comment. Stay tuned for SESEC announcements on organizing public comment together to elevate coalition priorities.
