The NWRBMS exists within UW Medicine Regional Burn Center at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA.

The primary activities of the NWRBMS include research on high priority topics for individuals with a burn injury and providing research-based education and training to professionals and consumers.

At today's ISBI plenary session -- Journals of Burn Care from Around the World, Dr. Jeff Shupp, JBCR editor in chief, identified a recent NWRBMS publication as one of significance. Excellent session today with Dr. Barclay Stewart opening the discussion. The UW Burn Center was well represented today in this plenary session that focused on 'burn surgery as a basic human right'. Thank you Dr. Stewart for your leadership in this important global issue.

Dr. David Greenhalgh -- was honored today and received the Tanner-Boswick-Vandeput prize at the ISBI Congress. A bit of UW history trivia -- Dr. Greenhalgh was a burn fellow back in the day at our center! Congratulations Dave!

The BMS vendor booth was busy today at the 23rd Congress of the International Society of Burn Injuries in Santiago, Chile. People were very interested in our educational products (as usual)!

Today was a busy day at the 23rd Congress of the ISBI. In the morning, Gretchen Carrougher led a discussion on burn nurse competencies. After lunch, Kara McMullen of the BMS Data Center spoke on research participation from the survivor perspective. Immediately following, Caitlin Orton shared practical lessons on building and maintaining a longitudinal BMS database. Great discussions at all 3 sessions!

Members of the NWRBMS/UW Burn Center team are in Santiago, Chile to attend the 23rd Congress of the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI). We'll give you daily updates on what is happening with several action pictures from today's splinting and positioning session. It was a hands-on practice session with both nurses and therapists from around the world. Stay tune.
