LHE Advocates for Our Schools
Update on School Closings
Thanks to the advocacy of our Loyal Heights community and hundreds of families across the district, Superintendent Jones announced his intention to withdraw his school closure plans at the school board meeting on November 19th. The School Board officially voted to approve the withdrawal of these plans on November 26th. As such, there will be no school closings during the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a HUGE win for all of us.
Our community must now turn its attention to the legislature and advocate for our schools to be fully funded. The 2025 Washington State legislative session starts on January 8th and given the current state of education funding, this year will be critical. Our voices matter, and legislators want (and need!) to hear from us.
We urge our community to remain engaged during the upcoming legislative session. Stay tuned for action items we will be announcing in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can take these initial steps.
