This is the Official page for the Chess Team at Lakeside School in Seattle, WA. This page will highlight the accomplishments of Lakeside Chess players.

Every year we seek to grow and develop as a program, and serve the community via chess. In 2014-2015 the A team won Metro (B team third), finished 2nd at State, and had a brilliant show at the National Championships to take 5th in the Nation!

2025 State Team Championship 02/28/2025

Good luck to the Lakeside A and B Teams as they compete in the 2025 Washington State High School Team Chess Championship, taking place this Friday-Saturday, February 28 - March 1, at Lincoln Hill High School in Stanwood! Lakeside A (Erin B. '28, Owen X. '26, Gabriel R. '28, Albert E. '27, Daniel W. '25) and Lakeside B (Christopher P. '27, Stuart B. '25, Emma L. '27, Drew K. '25, Max S. '25) are two of the fifty-one (51) 5-player teams competing over the course of 6 rounds of G/60; d5. Lakeside A, the reigning Metro League Chess Champions and defending State Champions, are led by WFM Erin Bian (2222) and are seeded first in the tournament with an average team rating of 1930 NWSRS.
The tournament is open to High School chess teams from throughout Washington State who have met the qualification requirements through league play or regional qualifiers. The event is sponsored by the Washington High School Chess Association (WHSCA). Seattle Metro Chess League Update
Metros Round 4
Date: January 8, 2025
Location: Seattle Prep

Lakeside A (Erin B. '28, Owen X. '26, Gabriel R. '28, Albert E. '27, and Daniel W. '25) swept Seattle Prep A 5-0!

Lakeside B (Felicity W. '26, Christopher P. '27, Stuart B. '25, Max S-W. '25, and Oliver C. '25) beat Ingraham A 4-1!

Lakeside C (Arnav B. '28, Anjali W. '25, John R. '25, Agastya V. '25, and Emily P. '25) crushed Garfield B 4.5-0.5!

Our next round will be held at Seattle Prep next Wednesday, January 15th. The first five placing teams in First Division and the first placing team in Second Division after Round Seven qualify for State Teams in late February.

Good luck to the Lakeside Team of Owen X. '26, Albert E. '27, and Gabriel R. '28 as they compete in the 2024 Washington State Mini-Teams Chess Championship, taking place tomorrow, Saturday November 9, at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo! Lakeside is one of the many 3-player teams competing over the course of 5 rounds of G/30; d5. Any Washington High School, Middle School or Junior High School can enter as many teams as desired. Mini-Teams is co-sponsored by the Mukilteo Recreation Dept. & Washington High School Chess Association (WHSCA). For more details about the event, check out the full announcement here:
