Morningside Academy Morningside Academy: elementary & middle school students meet and exceed academic grade level skills! Dr. Kent Johnson founded Morningside in Seattle in 1980.

Morningside has two programs: a non-profit school for children and youth, and a teachers' academy. Morningside Academy's school helps both elementary and middle school students to catch up and get ahead. Its students have not previously reached their potential; many have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or ADD/ADHD; all have average to well above average intelligenc

Attention Morningside families! There’s one week left to participate in The Seattle Public Library and Seattle Arts & Lectures Summer Book Bingo! Students who participate and compete a bingo get a trip to 7-11 for a slurpee with our principal, Kathy! 14 students participated during summer school and we can’t wait to see how many more bingos our students get and hear all about the awesome books they read. Parents can email a picture of their child’s Book Bingo card to Kathy ([email protected]) before the first day of school on September 16. We hope you all enjoy the last few days of summer and read lots of good books!

Many families are all too familiar with the daily challenge of balancing school, work, after school activities, and… the dreaded homework at the end of it all. At Morningside Academy, we believe that parents should get to just be parents, not parents AND teachers. Students in our Foundations classrooms have no homework at all and students in our Accelerated classrooms are explicitly taught how tackle the skill of doing homework to prepare them for high school.
