It seems to be a universal impulse for adults to sing to their babies, and every culture has its own lullaby tradition. In fact, lullabies across cultures have similar qualities, from repetitive patterns to the prevalence of triple meter, such as “Duérmete, niño bonito” from our Tambourine Song Collection. The lyrics translate to “Sleep, beautiful child / Sleep, my love, with this song / I am here with you, sleep.”
