It seems to be a universal impulse for adults to sing to their babies, and every culture has its own lullaby tradition. In fact, lullabies across cultures have similar qualities, from repetitive patterns to the prevalence of triple meter, such as “Duérmete, niño bonito” from our Tambourine Song Collection. The lyrics translate to “Sleep, beautiful child / Sleep, my love, with this song / I am here with you, sleep.”

Young children learn music the same way they learn language: through ongoing exposure, with lots of practice with their grownups. The best thing you can do to support your child’s music development? Sing and dance with them!

We're singing and dancing to lots of love songs this week as we head toward Valentine's Day. We can't wait to share the music and love with everyone! ❤💌❤
