Another epic musical moment. These awesome 5th graders from Beacon Hill International School went from zero to rockstars in just a few months playing for hundreds at the Seattle JazzED Annual Gala highlighting community partnerships giving students access to the power of music education. So proud of these kiddos! Needless to say they crushed it. 🎶

I left the Louisville area nearly 30 years ago for college to pursue a career in architecture. Despite the rigors of design studio life, my violin always seemed to tag along with me. Playing in coffee shops, worship spaces and just jamming. Even moving out to Seattle 20+ years ago, my identity as musician/violinist stuck close by despite any lack of formal education post high school.
Flash forward to the past week when returning to Louisville felt like a homecoming of sorts. Not in the sense of local boy done good and a ticker tape parade. But as a life-long music maker with this passion for teaching and a community that gets me! Though it was my 1st ASTA conference IRL, it felt like home where I connected/reconnected with respected mentors, coaches, colleagues of the string world who share this same passion for teaching life-long music makers. Felt good to be home!

Give some music classes for your kiddo for the holidays! Happy to continue this introductory class for children 5-8 yrs old. We learn about the violin, and the basic positions and movements involved in creating music from our instrument. Through community learning , we use classical, folk and popular string music, we will also cover the basic building blocks of music: melody, harmony and rhythm. My studio encourages social and creative playing right from the beginning with kids learning together. Connections — Seattle JazzED Connections is for students who are proficient on their instruments and ready to improve their musicianship and improvisational skills. Designed for parents and children 5-8 yrs old, this group class introduces children to the violin, and the basic positions and movements involved in creating music from our instrument.
