The University of Washington ranks No. 3 in top volunteer-producing institutions since the international program launched in 1961 and No. 7 among large universities in 2025. More than 3,175 UW graduates have served worldwide, including 38 across 26 countries this past year alone.

The University of Washington campus is beautiful year-round, but spring on the UW Quad is truly special. The iconic Yoshino cherry trees, planted in the 1930s, attract thousands of visitors to the UW when they bloom every spring. 🌸
 
The UW’s deep and long-standing ties with Japan make this annual tradition even more meaningful. These beloved cherry trees symbolize the enduring friendship between Japan and the United States, as well as the more than 120-year history of Japanese and Japanese American students at the UW. 💜
