Most sailors don't start out knowing what they're doing.
They start by saying yes.
Yes to trying something new.
Yes to getting out on the water.
Yes to learning a skill that could take them places they never expected.
If you've ever looked at a sailboat and wondered what it would be like to be at the helm, this is your sign.
ASA 101 is where many of our members started. It teaches the fundamentals of sailing in a hands-on, supportive environment with no experience required.
This could be you.

J/105 Puff represented Seattle Sailing Club at this year's Swiftsure International Yacht Race, one of the Pacific Northwest's most iconic distance races.
The course took the crew more than 100 miles from Victoria to Cape Flattery at the northwestern tip of the Olympic Peninsula and back again. Along the way they faced building winds, challenging sea conditions and gusts over 30 knots before crossing the finish line in Victoria early Sunday morning.
Racing aboard Puff were club members Lindsey P., Brian H., Matt L. and Bryan P., along with instructors Steve Summers and Paul Kalina. Together they completed the course with a corrected time of 13:36:35.
Congratulations to the crew on an incredible race and thank you for representing Seattle Sailing Club on the international stage.

SailFest is BACK!! The first race of the season kicks off next Friday, bringing together sailors from across the community for a fun, casual evening on the water. Hosted with the Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle (C*C Seattle) and Sloop Tavern Yacht Club , Sailfest is open to sailors and racers of all experience levels.
And if you're an SSC member, racing is completely free. Just one more perk of membership.
After the race, the bar at C*C will be open for anyone who wants to stick around and swap stories from the water.
Will we see you on the starting line?

Most sailing classes end before the sun goes down. This one is just getting started.
Over 3 days and 2 nights, our ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising students learn what it’s really like to manage a boat offshore. Night watches, sailing in the dark, advanced navigation, heavy weather tactics, emergency procedures and the kind of decision-making that only comes from hands-on experience underway.
There’s something pretty unforgettable about standing watch in the middle of the night with nothing around you but black water, wind and navigation lights in the distance.
Huge congratulations to this crew for taking on one of the most advanced courses we offer at SSC. 🌙⛵️
If you are ready, our next class is running August 28-30, check out more here: https://f.mtr.cool/wlfmeyqipm

Racing sailboats is basically a group project powered by wind and adrenaline.
Zoom in for some very important racing wisdom gathered somewhere between mark roundings, tangled sheets and people yelling “STARBOARD” a little too confidently.
Where are our seasoned racers? Let's hear some of your tips! 👇

Welcome Manic to the Seattle Sailing Club fleet. ⛵️
What makes this J/80 even more special is the story behind her.
Before joining SSC, Manic was a fire-damaged boat named Volce that most people would’ve written off. But in February 2025, her owner, Mike Cain, took on the challenge of bringing her back to life, spending the next year rebuilding her piece by piece in a Ballard shop.
What followed was a lot of fiberglass dust, long weekends and learning along the way. With help from Kris Henderson of Henderson Boat Company, Manic slowly transformed from a damaged project boat into the fast, beautiful J/80 she is today.
Now she’s back on the water and officially part of the fleet.
