Let’s get cooking! Ms. Pepi’s cooking class is prepping for the holidays. Here, students are making homemade breakfast biscuits to pair with their omelets.
Recipe & Instructions:
-Set oven temperature at 425
-12 tablespoons of cold butter
-2 tablespoons of sugar
-2 tablespoons of baking powder
-2 teaspoons of salt
-4 cups of flour
-1.5 cups of milk or cream
1. Measure and cut thin pieces of cold butter—keep butter cold
2. Measure dry ingredients into mixer bowl
3. Use mixer blade to briefly mix dry ingredients
4. Add the butter and mix briefly
5. Measure 3/4 cup of milk
6. Add milk to mixer
7. Put flour on cutting board
8. Knead the dough
9. Press out to a circle with dough becoming about 1/2 inch thick
10. Use biscuit cutter to cut biscuits
11. Place on a cookie sheet that’s been sprayed with cooking spray
12. Use pastry brush to top with butter or milk
13. Bake for 12 minutes
14. Let cool on cooling surface
15. Enjoy!
