"Hello, my name is Emily Callan. I’m a freshman at the University of Washington majoring in Music Education. I am thrilled to be participating in the Miss Greek competition for Cancer for College. Throughout my life, I’ve participated in and held multiple philanthropic events to benefit organizations such as Be Bold, Be Bald!, The Jimmy Fund, Project Bread, and many more.
I am so happy to be participating in an event that supports such a wonderful organization. I have seen the repercussions of childhood cancer in families, and it’s heartbreaking. Cancer for College allows these brave, young survivors a chance to further their education and continue to make a difference in the world. Thank you for donating to this amazing cause."

Learn more about her and why she chose to participate in Miss Greek here:
"I am Miss Greek candidate Anissa Sangster, and I am proudly representing the sorority of Pi Beta Phi. I am a freshman at the University of Washington and an intended Public Health major. I am from East Wenatchee, WA and I graduated as a valedictorian from Eastmont High School in the class of 2015. I am the oldest of three girls, and I am extremely family oriented. In high school, I was on the JV and Varsity Soccer teams my freshman year, and captain of the Varsity Cheer squad my senior year in addition to being involved in the Key Club, my school's community service club. My freshman year I was ASB President of my junior high, sophomore year I was the Sophomore Class President, and junior and senior years I was the ASB Treasurer. In February of 2015, I was selected to represent the Wenatchee Valley as Apple Blossom Princess, serving on the royal court of three. I danced competitively for 9 years at a local dance studio, where we took the National title several years in a row. In addition to taking dance classes, I was present in classes as the teacher's assistant. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, spending time with friends and family, cooking, and watching movies. After college, I hope to apply to dentistry school and become an orthodontist.
My favorite TV show is Pretty Little Liars, and my favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally. My favorite song is "Stay" by Florida Georgia Line, and my favorite novel is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I am most inspired by Maya Angelou, and my most treasured keepsake is my bear blanket that I have had ever since I was born. My proudest moment was becoming a big sister, and if I could trade places with someone for a day, it would be Jennifer Lawrence.
I am doing Miss Greek because I have had many friends and family members who have been affected by cancer, and I think it's a great way to get involved and participate in the fight against it."

Learn more about Amanda's Miss Greek journey below!
"Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Cervantes and I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to represent Phi Mu in Miss Greek 2016. I am from a small town in Eastern Washington in which I participated on two local dance teams, Running Start and volunteered often in my community. Graduating in the top 5% of my senior class, I have always held academics as a high priority in my life.
My passion for philanthropy initially derived from my experience as a barista my senior year. This company strongly emphasized the importance of giving back, which I absolutely loved. We held community fundraisers often where all profits were donated to local organizations. I was always amazed by how our actions created such a positive impact in our community.
Cancer has affected many families, including mine, and the mission of Cancer for College truly inspires me. Raising money for this organization is a huge honor, not only because of their dedication to assisting cancer survivors pursuing a college education, but the passion they hold for expanding their outreach.
My time at UW thus far has exposed me to many opportunities, while discovering my passion for communications and meeting such amazing, diverse people here on campus. I have been truly blessed for my experiences to date, and I am so excited to help give this opportunity to cancer survivors who have fought so hard to pursue their dreams. I know with all of your support we can accomplish just that."
