Join us in learning from the inspiring journey of Delin Shen, a member of Class 2023, as he shares how he upskilled in business analytics and secured a coveted position with Nike, leveraging the invaluable resources provided by Foster.

1. Upskilling in Business Analytics through the Program: Delin, an Economics undergraduate at UW, discovered his passion for data analysis while exploring the financial industry during college. Recognizing the need for a comprehensive and efficient learning experience, Delin decided to pursue the Foster MSBA Program to deepen his understanding of business analytics.

2. Leveraging Foster's Resources: Delin proactively utilized Foster Career Services to navigate the challenging job search process. He found immense value in acquiring knowledge about resume writing, cover letter crafting, networking strategies, and interview techniques. These resources played a vital role in his successful job search.

We had an amazing BBQ on campus this week! It was a great opportunity for the staff, faculty, and students from Foster to get together and enjoy some delicious food while soaking up the sun.

What is it like to sign on with a staffing agency and work as a contractor? Last Friday, we had the precious opportunity to invite experienced recruiters and alumni to share with us the pros and cons of working as a contractor. Our speakers were:

Are you a marketing professional and passionate about using data to empower marketing? Prarthana’s journey will give you some great insights!

With more than 8 years of experience in business analytics back in India, Prarthana pivots her focus from business growth to media attribution at T-Mobile.

If to give a piece of advice to the upcoming students, Prarthana emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and making the program a holistic experience. When Prarthana was at Foster, she grasped the chance to upskill the analytics skill, build up real-world experience based on the capstone project and learn from her classmates to gain fresh perspective.

🏆Student Achievement: Leveraging business analytics to empower sustainable souring.

Tomorrow is the Earth Day! We are proud to introduce our student Peilun Sun and his devotion to sustainability.



Peilun Sun has a solid background in the medical recycling industry and has been interested in adopting an innovative approach to sourcing recycled material. Before joining Foster MSBA, Peilun participated in EnergyTechUp, a national and highly competitive competition held by the Department of Energy. In the competition, Peilun initiated extracting rare earth elements from coal waste, an idea that defeated strong competitors from Stanford and Berkeley. It’s also the foundation of his future project-EcoRare.




With countless hours of research, Peilun grasped the idea of rare earth material and started to leverage business analytics to develop a model to commercialize the idea.



As Peilun dedicates his passion toward becoming a sustainability-focused data analyst, we can’t wait to see how Peilun brings solutions to sustainability- one of the most crucial issues human faces today.

🎯Mock Interview with Industry Leaders

Last week, Foster MSBA alumni and industry partners from leading companies, including Expedia Group and Microsoft conducted mock interviews with current Business Analytics students eager to enter the job force.

Through the interviews and workshops, our students gained insights into what is expected in the current job market, how to best demonstrate their strengths, and identified improvement areas. With the strong connection with the community and our students’ ambition, we are excited to see how our students are one step closer to their career goals.

Jeffrey gained extensive analysis experience at Expedia and Zulily before joining the MSBA program. Learn how he's used his MSBA education to advance his career and gain valuable insights from leveraging past experience for future success.



💡What capabilities are important for succeeding in the program?

Try to have a goal of what success looks like for you when you graduate from the program. And try to be very specific and work backward to identify which classes, projects, datasets, and classmates will get you to your goal.



💡How are you leveraging your experience for future success?

As a Sr. Analytics Manager at Chewy, I'm part of the WOW team, responsible for creating memorable experiences for pet owners. With my past experience in e-commerce, marketing, and customer experience data, I continue to to learn new methods to analyze data and work with incredible team members at Chewy



💡What advice do you have for balancing a full-time job, personal and family life, class, team meetings, and other program activities?

Think hard about what’s most valuable to you in the near-term, medium-term, and long-term,and plan and prioritize. I’m not just talking about academics but about all aspects of your life.
