Single Agent Chemotherapy for Treatment

There are times where your physician may consider single agent chemotherapy for treatment. For example, romidepsin is a chemotherapy agent that is typically given by itself on Days 1, 8, and 15 every 28 days, or “weekly for 3 weeks on 1 week off.” Other examples of single agent chemotherapy include pralatrexate and brentuximab vedotin.

Clinical Trial: Phase II

Phase II trials usually have a more favorable risk/benefit ratio than phase I trials; patients with fewer prior treatments or treatment failures should really consider enrolling into these protocols if standard treatments are not very efficacious.

What Sample is Needed to Make a Diagnosis of T Cell Lymphoma and How is it Obtained?

Tissue: Various organs/tissues can be primarily or secondarily involved by lymphoma. In T cell and NK cell lymphomas, lymph nodes, skin, nasal cavity/sinus, liver, spleen and the intestine are some of the more common tissue sites to be involved.

Terms that you may have come across on your pathology report, in your reading or discussions with your health care providers

Antibody: An antibody is a protein that can recognize another protein. The antibody protein can have a color attached to it, so it can be seen (thereby identifying the protein you are looking for). As an analogy, if you're an antibody, and you’re looking in a crowd of people (various proteins) to identify a lost friend (the specific protein of interest), you would be able to identify that friend (protein), take that friend/protein by the hand, and raise a blue flag, so the rest of your friends would know where your lost friend (protein) is.
