kids are SUPPOSED to be dawdlers! we would all be better off if we took more opportunities to watch the ice crack beneath our feet and delight in the mundane magic of being alive!!! of course i know this in my soul, but it can be easy to forget when you're in the thick of parenting and feel trapped by hectic schedules. but that's not on them! and as much as i can, i try not to make my kids feel rushed. during our morning routine, i'm trying to be more mindful of how i can move them through the necessary tasks as efficiently as possible so that they can take the rest of it slow. and usually that means i need to be really present with them through those moments, not distracted while i repeat myself over and over from across the room to try to get them to do it themselves. when i find myself nagging them, the root problem is usually that i'm not paying attention to their cues. it means that they need more from me: more help or my presence or clearer instructions. sometimes the wisdom of little ones truly knocks me off my feet ✨
