“Hello! My name is Mia Harmon, and I am so excited to be joining the St. Therese community as your new art teacher and preschool assistant teacher!

I graduated from Seattle University with a degree in Visual Arts and Art History and have applied it by teaching young artists in early childhood education. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with the creative students and faculty at St. Therese. Let’s make some beautiful art!

Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Casey Sommers who was one of 7 awardees across the Archdiocese of Seattle to receive the Fulcrum Foundation 2026 St. John Baptist de La Salle Educator of the Year award!!! 🏆❤️

Named in honor of the patron saint of teachers, this award recognizes educators who exemplify excellence. Recipients must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the Catholic mission and identity, a dedication to academic excellence, and a meaningful, inspiring presence within their school communities.

Mrs. Sommers has been at STCA for over a decade helping develop students both in the classroom as a teacher and as the leader of our Student Support Team! Her dedication to the expansion of services and equitable delivery for all has been integral to growth in test scores and in student belonging!! While I went to school in Denver, Colorado, I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska, and in my free time, I love to meet new people, try new coffee shops, and explore the outdoors!

I recently graduated from Seattle University with a degree in Elementary Education and have had the opportunity to complete student teaching at St. Therese for my masters program. I believe that strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues are the foundation of a successful school community.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, hiking, traveling, and caring for animals. “My name is Anne Friedlander and I am thrilled to be joining St. Therese full-time as the third grade teacher after being a substitute teacher this past school year. I have taught in Seattle Public Schools, the Renton School District, and Lake Washington School District in both elementary and middle school.

A graduate of the University of Washington, Portland State University, and Seattle University, I am a longtime Seattleite with two kids out of college. A life-long learner who is curious about nature, art, culture, and history (and most everything), I find in absolute joy in also learning what kids have to teach me about the world!

Outside of school I enjoy traveling, gardening, working with textiles, walking my dogs, looking for birds and frogs, and diving into family history. I also like all Australian animals!”
