This week, our pre-K classroom Canyon went to Japan! They had so much fun, studying Japanese culture and creating a menu and food. Traveling the world for a few hours a day is easy peasy when you’re traveling by book!

We are onto something so good in Alpine Ridge! We went to the market, we checked out the food that we chose, and then we got to cook it! It was so much fun. Our teachers joined us in the dramatic play and encouraged our learning by asking open-ended questions, answering “why” and creating a space to mimic daily tasks we are interested in.

One thing you gotta know about us is we are gonna read stories!
We are going to read in class. We are going to read in circle time. We are going to read at the table. We are going to read in the hallway. We are going to read on the playground. We are going to read anywhere! If you have a good story, we are going to read it! Check with your child’s teacher to find out when it’s OK for them to bring in a loved book from home. Keep in mind that books brought to preschool may get very well loved and come home a little worse for wear.
