In this free webinar, we’ll unpack how purity culture evolved, how it appropriated therapeutic language to strengthen its message, and why its influence continues to shape conversations about faith, identity, s*xuality, and belonging today.
We’re confident in saying that purity culture shaped more than views on s*x, what do you think?

Purity culture wasn't just about purity rings. 💍 👀
If you grew up in or around evangelical Christianity, chances are you've encountered the purity movement of the 1990s—or know someone whose life was impacted by it.
Join us on June 25 at 9:30 AM PST for a free webinar with Dr. Lauren D. Sawyer as we explore Purity Culture and the Therapeutic Turn in American Evangelicalism.
We’ll look at how neo-evangelical leaders gradually embraced words like “healing” and “wholeness” they once rejected and how purity culture grew traction from that shift.
Drawing on years of historical research, Dr. Sawyer will unpack how purity culture evolved, how it appropriated therapeutic language to strengthen its message, and why its influence continues to shape conversations about faith, identity, s*xuality, and belonging today.
