Denise Louie provides multi-cultural early childhood education services to low-income children and their families throughout Seattle.
Since 1978, DLEC has been providing a comprehensive, family-centered approach to early learning which meets the needs of low-income children and families in our communities. We provide a range of services for children birth to five years old from home visits to preschool centers to health trainings for parents--all designed to prepare kids for success in kindergarten and beyond. We recognize that parents and caregivers are their child's first and forever teacher, so we work with families from the beginning to ensure their child's success. We believe every child should have the opportunity to be successful regardless of income or background!
Mission: Denise Louie Education Center promotes school and life readiness by providing multi-cultural early learning services to vulnerable children and families. We will respect and preserve each child and family's individuality, cultural heritage and home language. We will promote personal and social responsibility with integrity and love in an an environment defined by social justice and peace.

Hi Seattle Friends,
We're all living through challenging times and while social distancing is important, so is finding ways to give back to our community. One of my friends shared the #TheFrontStepsProject with me and I loved it so much, I plan on doing the same here in Seattle and the Eastside to benefit Denise Louie Education Center.
#TheFrontStepsProject bring us together virtually despite being - and maybe feeling - isolated. We aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, on the train or at the gym. We may be temporarily separated, but we are always united.
BENEFITING DENISE LOUIE EDUCATION CENTER:
Your participation will support Denise Louie Education Center (DLEC), whose goal is to close the opportunity gap for low-income children and families in Washington. Many of the families who receive their services are essential workers and first responders who need emergency childcare during this time so that they can continue going to work to support all of us. Now more than ever it is so important that we keep in mind that these families are going to be disproportionately affected by the COVID-19.
HOW THIS WORKS:
1. You make a donation (suggested $100 donation) here or DLEC's website (www.deniselouie.org).
2. Email me at [email protected] and we find a date and time that I will be in your neighborhood. Below are the days/time/location that I will be photographing.
May 1-2, I will be in the Bellevue/Issaquah area from 10-noon.
May 9-10, I will be in Seattle from 10-noon.
3. You will know when I am arriving by text! When I drive by and be least 10 feet away with my camera. You gather on your front steps. I briefly photograph you guys (families, solo, couples, with pets, etc. anyone) on your front steps, again from afar. 5-10 minutes max.
4. The next day you will receive a gallery with 5-7 edited images link to download, share, and have a memory of forever.
I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #TheFrontStepsProject and #wegotthisseattle #deniselouieeducationcenter as part of a national community of neighbors.

Dear Denise Louie Education Center Caregivers,
We have been following the guidance of Public Health, King County and Seattle Public Schools. Therefore, we have suspended our preschool, childcare and in-home services until Friday, March 27, 2020. We are unclear when services will resume because of the Governor’s closure of all public schools in the state.
We will use the next two weeks to better understand our families' needs and how we can continue to offer services. We are working to develop remote capabilities and will keep you informed throughout this process.
At this time, there are neither suspected nor confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Denise Louie Education Center. This is purely a preventative measure to ensure that our staff and families feel comfortable and healthy.
We appreciate you keeping in touch and helping us to better understand how we can best support you.

Safety is a top priority here at Denise Louie Education Center. We have a disaster plan policy of which each site has posted disaster plans and escape routes that are practiced monthly. Additionally, every classroom is stocked with emergency supplies to best prepare and ensure everyone’s safety in the case of an emergency.
Success: One of our preschooler was vacationing in California when an earthquake occurred. Mom shared that she was pleasantly surprised to see that her daughter knew exactly what to do, and hid under a table. When mom asked her where she had learned this, her daughter responded that her teacher and friends practiced emergency drills at school.
A big thank you to our team for your dedication towards the safety and well-being of our children!
