Our faculty and staff have been 'Getting busy with FSSI' (Faculty and Staff Summer Institute) these past 2 weeks. Through team building activities (fun ice breakers and bowling!), collaboration meetings, DEI learning, drills, and other trainings, we are gearing up for an exciting and adventurous school year ahead. This summer at SGS STEAM Camp, curiosity was hands-on.
Students spent the week building their own instruments, engineering Lego houses, designing book covers, shaking their own ice cream, and inventing new watercolors! That’s what STEAM learning looks like at SGS: giving students the space to follow their curiosity, get a little messy, and discover what they’re capable of creating.
Today’s campers are tomorrow’s scientists, artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers.

Four days of learning, reflection, and collaboration 🐝

This year’s Cultural Competency Lab (CCL) at SGS brought together 35 educators from 13 schools across six states! Over the course of the week, we talked about identity, culture, power, communication, and the ways our own experiences shape how we show up for our students. Educators left with new questions to ask, practices to try, and perspectives to bring back to their respective classrooms, colleagues, & communities.

The Seattle Girls’ School Board of Trustees is thrilled to announce that Lexi Keeler has accepted the role of Interim Head of School for the 2026–2027 school year!

With 8 years of dedicated service to SGS, Lexi brings stability, expertise, and care to lead our community through this transition.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our departing Head of School, Brenda Leaks, for 10 incredible years of warmth, vision, and leadership.

Lexi will work closely with our dedicated leadership team – Associate Head of School, Phelana Pang, Dean of Student Life, Miryam Harvey, and Diana Algomeda, Director of Enrollment Management – ensuring SGS remains true to the mission, student-centered and future-focused.

Our 2026 Luncheon is officially in the books! We are beyond thankful for the incredible support and enthusiasm that helped us raise over $435,739 for tuition assistance. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up for our future leaders.

This year, we celebrated the empowerment of student voices. The room was moved by our student speaker’s NY Times-published memoir and inspired as we honored award-winning author Donna Barba Higuera with the Grace Hopper Award.

As Brenda Leaks, SGS Head of School, shared:

"This is how we inspire and develop courageous leaders at Seattle Girls’ School; how we empower their voices and help them believe that they can make a difference in their communities… because we certainly believe that they can."
