ISEEN's 22nd Annual Winter Institute is being hosted by St. George's School in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on February 10-12, 2027.

There has been a lot of amazing work happening behind the scenes. We have:

- innovated and improved our institute schedule
- collaborated with schools and community partners to provide attendees with dynamic programming
- worked to scaffold the institute experience to better meet our attendees where they are at

Meet three of the incredible facilitators joining us at the 2026 ISEEN Catalyst Institute!

DR. BARRET FABRIS, Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at Brown University’s School of Public Health, brings nearly two decades of experience across public, independent, parochial, and international education. His approach centers experiential learning, inquiry, agency, reflection, and lived experience.

LAUREN KELLEY, Upper School Head at Cascades Academy and ISEEN Board member, has spent 20 years teaching and leading experiential programs spanning outdoor leadership, global learning, community engagement, international expeditions, and immersive education.

CRIS HARRIS, longtime teacher and administrator at Hawken School, creates student-centered learning experiences ranging from international expeditions and backcountry courses to wilderness medicine and investigative journalism. As an instructional coach and consultant, he helps educators reimagine what teaching and learning can look like beyond traditional classroom constraints.

Together, Barret, Lauren, and Cris bring a wealth of experience in creating transformative, student-centered learning.

Our final day together -- Summer Institute 2026

We enjoyed a "farm to table" celebration dinner at Ollin Farms, a family-owned farm run by a Dawson School graduate. They work hand in hand with students and interns to provide delicious and fresh food to their local community.

Day 4 Summer Institute 2026 🦗

It is time to say "see you later!" to all these fabulous educators. Each cohort spend hours each day writing and revising curriculum for their students this fall. What a gift it will be to their home school communities!

Day 3 of our Summer Teacher Institute is all about BOULDER 🪨⁠
⁠
Dawson School is encircled by mountains and in close proximity to a funky, interesting town called Boulder. All out academic cohorts made the streets, museums, and natural spaces their classroom today.⁠
⁠
We ended our day with a proper tea at the Dushanbe Teahouse 🫖. Shipped in crates from Tajikistan 🇹🇯 in the 1980s, over 40 artists created a beautiful space in which to gather. ISEEN is so lucky to be able to partner with local groups and businesses to bring our participants authentic and intentional programming.

Interactive. Meaningful. Creative.
Transformational. Inclusive. Engaging.
Immersive. Collaborative. Fun-filling.

These words were used by our participants today top describe the best learning experience they have ever had. What a coincidence that our institute also embodies all of these words!

📚️ We have spent a lot of time in cohorts, digging into content-specific experiential education. And soon we will move on to developing curriculum that can be put into action this fall.

This cohort is led by Jeff and Chris, local Dawson School educators and Makerspace extraordinaires! This cohort is open to all, especially if you do not see your content area offered in one of our other cohorts.

Educators who:
- Do projects that involve building or crafting a product
- Fab Lab teachers, Innovation teachers, Entrepreneurship teachers
- Administrators looking to stretch themselves and acquire new skills and understanding
- Educators who want to learn how to use a wide variety of tools, machines, and materials to get creative and design deep learning experiences
