Thanks to everyone who came to our Winter Retreat. We also want to thank OSU Taiwanese Student Association for collaborating with us to make this event happen. We hope y'all enjoyed it and hopefully we can collaborate in other events in the future.

Last but not least, special thanks to Taiwan in San Francisco-駐舊金山臺北經濟文化辦事處 for supporting our event. As a new club, it was really hard to plan and find resources but luckily we have a supportive community from Taiwan. So thank you for making this happen.

西北地區的台灣學生會第一次的聯合會議。

上週六，TGSA 領頭主辦，協同 TOSA, TSA, 跟 TYAPN 一起與 Education Division, TECO San Francisco - 駐舊金山辦事處教育組 + Taiwan in Seattle 駐西雅圖辦事處一起辦了一個「美國西北部臺灣同學會會長聯席會議」。這是第一次我們有機會邀到 Seattle University, Oregon State University 與 Washington State University 的台灣學生會幹部們一起來西雅圖聚聚互相認識。這次會議，除了大家彼此認識並且允諾未來彼此各學生會保持聯絡、團結，更透過邀請郭念慈律師（美國達理律師事務所律師）幫我們主講以簽證為核心的海外留學生法律生活講座、以及周慧宜組長幫我們解說了一下教育部海外宣導的各種知識，如獎學金、攬才政策、防詐騙、校園槍擊安全宣導等。TECO 的甄國清處長跟我們分享了他以前留學時的故事，激勵我們團結！TECO 潘欣懿秘書也幫我們解說了各州台灣僑胞要來 TECO 辦各種文件的注意事項與流程。
最重要的是，大家都帶著一顆愉快的心回家、回到各校各社團，把知識傳下去、也把彼此跨校牽起來。期待未來與各校繼續合作，讓美國西北地區的台灣留學生團結互助！

Hello everyone! Hope y’all have a great start of your week. This Friday, we’re going to host our first General Meeting for this quarter. The purpose of this event is to announce and discuss the fall quarter’s main events and Winter Retreat. Besides, there will be board games for everyone to play. We will be providing mahjong, Avalon, and pokers, but feel free to bring any games you have if you’re willing to share. We hope that this event could be an opportunity for new members to integrate into our organization and for existing members to get to know new members. So we encourage everyone to participate if you don’t have any other plans! Hope to see y’all there. Thanks!

SU Taiwanese Student Organization (TSA) will host a Fall Orientation for all incoming Taiwanese students, and we would love to invite you to attend this event. At the event, you will learn how our club came to be, collect useful information about school resources, gain knowledge about the tasty foods and fun locations in Seattle, and most importantly, get to make new friends! Current SU students and alumni will be at the event to share their experiences, answer any questions you might have, and provide information to help you transition into this new chapter smoothly. Snacks and drinks will be provided at the event as well!

Nonimmigrant F-1 and M-1 students attending schools operating entirely online may not take a full online course load and remain in the United States. The U.S. Department of State will not issue visas to students enrolled in schools and/or programs that are fully online for the fall semester nor will U.S. Customs and Border Protection permit these students to enter the United States. Active students currently in the United States enrolled in such programs must depart the country or take other measures, such as transferring to a school with in-person instruction to remain in lawful status. If not, they may face immigration consequences including, but not limited to, the initiation of removal proceedings.

因應美國各州新冠肺炎疫情劇變，各校紛紛宣布暫停實體授課，全面改採線上教學，許多國際學生辦公室均建議持F-1或J-1簽證的國際學生們在此期間，避免任何的國際旅行，且最好不要離境返國。

依據國土安全部相關法規規定，為維持在美合法居留的外國學生身分，每學期∕季只能選讀一門遠距課程，並必須維持80%以上的出席率及良好成績。為因應疫情，目前學校改採線上課程，但外籍學生顧問們解讀，主管當局在不更改法規的情況下，只是暫時放寬課程的認定，因多數學校已在學期∕季中，所以目前狀態是改上所謂的『混合課程』(hybrid)，好讓F-1學生維持合法居留身分，但前提是學生必須留在美國境內，倘離境，則學校「可能以『退學∕中止學業』(withdrawal)」處理，則重入境時可能會有相關限制及困難。

目前多數學校的線上課程都是暫時措施，可能維持，也可能隨情況變動調整，各校的行政單位及宿舍等則多維持正常上班，建議同學們仔細閱讀校內國際辦公室之相關資訊並審慎評估是否要離境返國。 必要時務必聯絡自己校內的國際辦公室，以獲得充分且正確的資訊。

在此全球非常時期，同學們更要小心行事，請就近運用協助、資源，大家互相幫忙、彼此照應，平穩渡過不安的時刻，請隨時與本組保持聯繫。
