Our Creative Arts Students have been working on this Canvas Project since October of 2023!
Every layer represents a different medium or material we studied together over the school year. We are so excited to unveil this magnificent art piece at our Spring Art Show this week, but we couldn’t resist sharing a ! The beauty of Process Focused Art never ceases to amaze us.

✨TEACHER HIGHLIGHT✨ Teacher Andrea is our Lead Preschool Teacher and also leading Enchanted Adventures this summer at Roaring Mouse. Andrea’s background in Theater Arts and Creative Drama adds a certain special sparkle to our programs. Andrea is a local theatre arts educator, specializing in Creative Drama. She studied Theatre, with an emphasis in Educational Drama, at Western Washington University. Following graduation she joined the Education team at Seattle Children’s Theatre, where she stayed for 14 years, working with students ages 3 to adult in schools, libraries, and museums around the Puget Sound. Andrea is a Washington State Teaching Artist Training Lab graduate. She values being a life-long learner and sees every class as a chance to learn and grow from each other. We love learning from her everyday, and it goes without saying, all the kids love her too!

Summer preschool at Roaring Mouse is a place for children to grow, learn, play, and create. Our teaching philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for children and the transformative power of their play. We view children as creative and capable learners who are each valued members of our community and from whom we all have much to learn. We utilize an emergent curriculum that is designed to meet the needs of preschool children for creative play, social interaction, reflection and learning. Our aim is to make Roaring Mouse feel like a home away from home. A place to play and get messy. A place to explore friendship and build community. A place for collaboration and creation.

Back by popular demand in the new year: The Alchemist ! Each week, students will meet to learn game mechanics, and gain experience playing the game with other kids, in a casual, fun and knowledge packed class.

DETAILS: Ages: 8-12 Schedule: Tuesdays, 4:00-5:30pm Dates: January 9 - February 12, 6 Weeks Teacher: Max Gitenstein Cost: $200 Each student will receive their very own deck, as well as more cards to add throughout the session.

The Alchemist MTG is a learn-to-play MtG program led by Max Gitenstein, who has been playing MtG for a decade and loves working with kids. Our goal is to help you join the awesome MtG community with confidence.

It’s officially the dark and rainy season here in Seattle- which means it’s time to get CREATIVE with those hours after school and on weekends. Good news, we are now enrolling for Winter Classes! PLOT TWIST! We have a few spots that just opened up in this Fall’s Story Forts. A perfect class for early release days! Come join us as we go down the rabbit hole of creating and acting out our stories! This class is all about imagination and collaboration. Each week, students will work together to make one-of-a-kind scenery with cardboard boxes, recycled materials, and other loose parts. We’ll design fabulous costumes, craft silly puppets, and draw and write out our grand ideas. Big or small, our stories are worth sharing and this class is all about exploring our own unique ways to do just that!

Roaring Mouse Creative Arts Studio in Ravenna is accepting applications for two preschool programs for the 2023-2024 school year including our Creative Arts class - which is a great entry point to preschool for 2.5-3.5 year olds.

Our arts-based preschool philosophy borrows from a range of respected, diverse educational approaches with an emphasis on play and social-emotional development. Roaring Mouse is truly a magical place that has been nurturing children's creativity while fostering social and emotional learning for over 26 years.

We offer two part-time programs. Preschool meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am to 1pm and is geared toward 3-5 year olds. Creative Arts meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 12pm and is geared towards 2.5-3.5 years old.
