We have a COOL opportunity for Orca Bowl teams and their friends/family! Please join us at UW on Tuesday, Dec. 1st at 6pm for the:
SCHMIDT OCEAN INSTITUTE ON THE HYDROTHERMAL HUNT!
The Schmidt Ocean Institute’s research vessel Falkor is embarking on an exciting expedition to explore the Mariana Back-arc for hydrothermal activity and ecosystems… and you are invited! The Schmidt Ocean Institute is inviting NOSB ORCA BOWL students to participate in a live ship-to-shore event during this expedition. You will take a virtual tour of this state-of the-art research vessel, explore the research equipment used – including Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Sentry, and learn about the science being conducted. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the expedition team, which includes researchers from the University of Washington, Oregon State University, and NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Lab.
