Green Lake Crew has a long and proud history of excellence that began in 1948 and has evolved into a nationally recognized competitive rowing powerhouse. Green Lake is consistently competitive at the NW Regional Championship Regatta and is often represented at the USRowing Junior Invitational regatta finals. Many Green Lake rowers go on to row in college and several have competed at National and Olympic levels. Anyone is welcome, everyone is encouraged, and all will row at Green Lake. The more you know about the program, the more enthusiastic you will become. Green Lake Crew is a sponsored program of the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department. The City provides the facilities and pays the office staff. The Rowing Advisory Council (RAC) provides boats, equipment, supplies, and coaching salaries. The RAC is a group of volunteers (parents and adult rowers) who are dedicated to Green Lake Crew’s continued success. Green Lake junior rowers come from all over the greater Seattle area and range in age from 13 to 18. All abilities and levels of experience have an opportunity to learn to row and compete. The philosophy of Green Lake Crew is simple: “pull hard, go fast, have fun.”

A quick reminder from RAC’s president about the Erg-a-thon and why it matters:

Five major fundraisers keep GLC running at a high level: the three home regattas fund the equipment GLC rowers use every day, and the winter auction funds most of the financial aid for rowers. The Erg-a-thon covers everything else, like repairs when a boat runs aground (or falls over in the slings) and replacing aging ergs, all without raising fees.

On Saturday morning, October 24, Green Lake Crew will come together at the lake as ONE GREEN LAKE, with juniors, masters, adaptive, paddlers, and board members all cranking a wheel that doesn’t float to keep our programs afloat.

It's October — and that means it's Erg-a-Thon month!

Green Lake Crew's athletes will be erging in shifts throughout the day to raise money for the program on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Follow the loud music to find them right outside the Boathouse!

Junior and master rowers need your support (and cheers!) to help keep the program in shape. Funds raised will go to support financial aid, lower class costs, new equipment and more!
