Last week, we wrapped up our end-of-year adventures — a beloved KapKa tradition that celebrates growth, connection, and all that we've accomplished together.
These trips remind us that learning happens everywhere. Students practice flexibility, discover their strengths, support one another, and challenge themselves to try new things. Along the way, they build confidence, resilience, and lasting memories.
🏔️ Our 5th graders completed an incredible backpacking trip to Snowbowl Hut in Mount Rainier National Park, carrying full packs, planning and cooking their own meals, and returning with tired feet and strong memories.
🔥 Our rising Trailblazers (current 3rd & 4th graders) enjoyed an overnight at Camp Long filled with ropes courses, team-building challenges, campfires, and singalongs.
🌊 Our Kindergarten students celebrated their first year together with a joyful beach day at Golden Gardens, while our rising Navigators (current 1st & 2nd graders) explored Discovery Park through games, adventure, and time in community.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible staff and families who make these experiences possible — whether you joined us on-site, helped your child prepare to try something new, or supported the school behind the scenes. These five days are busy, meaningful, and transformative, and we couldn't do it without you.
This is what community-powered learning looks like. ❤️

Last weekend, KapKa families headed to beautiful Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands for our annual trip to YMCA Camp Orkila — a beloved tradition that generations of KapKa kids and families look forward to every spring! 🌲⛴️☀️
The weekend was packed with adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Families enjoyed crafts, archery, climbing, the big swing, ziplining, and plenty of outdoor fun. Evenings brought beach bonfires, s’mores by the water, and our always-entertaining talent show! 🔥🎯🎭
There’s something so special about spending time together in such a beautiful place, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Camp Orkila trip such a blast — we’re already counting down to next spring! 💙
Making noise, finding rhythm, and having fun while learning through music 🥁🎶
At Kapka, learning begins with connection — and our teachers make that possible every day. We are endlessly grateful for the care, encouragement, and joy they bring into each classroom.
Fun in the gym! 🏃♂️

Earlier this month, KapKa’s 1st graders brought their own idea to life: a fully student-led Art Show to support the school. From dreaming it up to creating the artwork and setting it all up, they took ownership of the entire experience with excitement and care.
The gym was filled with creativity — from glittery slime and handmade jewelry to sewn pouches, pop-up cards, and more — each piece made to be shared with the community. Families stopped by, enjoyed treats, and selected something special to take home, all while supporting KapKa.
What started as their idea grew into something joyful and meaningful, raising $702.05 for the school.
So proud of these young artists—and so grateful for a community that shows up with such enthusiasm and support 💛

Community doesn’t just build at school — it grows in the in-between moments, too.
A couple weeks ago, a few KapKa moms took a trip to Vashon Island — time to slow down, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company outside the usual routine.
We wandered quiet beaches, shared long, relaxed meals, and had the kind of conversations that leave you feeling both lighter and more connected. There’s something special about stepping away together and getting to know each other beyond the day-to-day roles.
The same sense of care and connection we nurture for our kids at KapKa showed up for us, too. A good reminder that this community extends far beyond the classroom.
Grateful for this circle — and for weekends that fill the cup in the best way.
