🌿 Back together at KapKa! πŸ’›

It was so wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces at our Back to School Picnic! After a long summer, there’s something special about coming together again, reconnecting with friends, welcoming new families, and sharing the excitement for the year ahead.

Soon, our classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces will once again be filled with children learning, wondering, creating, playing, laughing, and growing together. ✨

We loved kicking off another KapKa year with our community and can’t wait for all that’s ahead. Welcome back, KapKa! πŸŽ’πŸŽ

πŸ•οΈβ˜€οΈ KapKa Community Camping! πŸ’¦πŸ”₯

One of our favorite KapKa traditions is back! Each year, KapKa families come together for a community camping trip filled with summer fun, time outdoors, and plenty of opportunities to connect.

Days were spent by the lake swimming, splashing, paddling, and soaking up the sunshine. And when evening rolled around, everyone gathered around the campfire to roast marshmallows, share stories, and enjoy being together. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ›ΆπŸ”₯

It’s these simple moments, kids exploring and playing together, families connecting, and friendships growing beyond the school day, that make this annual tradition so special.

What a wonderful way to enjoy the last days of summer with our KapKa community! πŸ’›πŸ•οΈ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™ Jog-a-thon Final Count is In! πŸ’™πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

This year's Jog-a-thon supported Sound Foundations NW, an organization that builds tiny homes for people experiencing homelessness.

Our students:
πŸ… Ran an amazing 271 miles combined around the Cannon Park mini track
πŸ’™ Raised $8,239.58 through the support of family and friends
🏠 Collected nearly enough to fund two tiny homes!

We couldn't be prouder of our students for showing that even small feet can make a big impact. Their determination, generosity, and commitment to helping others reflect what our KapKa community is all about.

A huge thank you to every student, family, friend, and supporter who helped make this year's Jog-a-thon such a meaningful success. Together, we're making a difference β€” one lap at a time. πŸ’š

Last week, we wrapped up our end-of-year adventures β€” a beloved KapKa tradition that celebrates growth, connection, and all that we've accomplished together.

These trips remind us that learning happens everywhere. Students practice flexibility, discover their strengths, support one another, and challenge themselves to try new things. Along the way, they build confidence, resilience, and lasting memories.

πŸ”οΈ Our 5th graders completed an incredible backpacking trip to Snowbowl Hut in Mount Rainier National Park, carrying full packs, planning and cooking their own meals, and returning with tired feet and strong memories.

πŸ”₯ Our rising Trailblazers (current 3rd & 4th graders) enjoyed an overnight at Camp Long filled with ropes courses, team-building challenges, campfires, and singalongs.

🌊 Our Kindergarten students celebrated their first year together with a joyful beach day at Golden Gardens, while our rising Navigators (current 1st & 2nd graders) explored Discovery Park through games, adventure, and time in community.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible staff and families who make these experiences possible β€” whether you joined us on-site, helped your child prepare to try something new, or supported the school behind the scenes. These five days are busy, meaningful, and transformative, and we couldn't do it without you.

This is what community-powered learning looks like. ❀️

Last weekend, KapKa families headed to beautiful Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands for our annual trip to YMCA Camp Orkila β€” a beloved tradition that generations of KapKa kids and families look forward to every spring! πŸŒ²β›΄οΈβ˜€οΈ

The weekend was packed with adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Families enjoyed crafts, archery, climbing, the big swing, ziplining, and plenty of outdoor fun. Evenings brought beach bonfires, s’mores by the water, and our always-entertaining talent show! πŸ”₯🎯🎭

There’s something so special about spending time together in such a beautiful place, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Camp Orkila trip such a blast β€” we’re already counting down to next spring! πŸ’™
