We celebrated a major expansion of Nathan Hale Urban Farm last evening. Our site is now accessible directly from 31st Ave and we have increased the area where we can grow our plants. The expansion frames a newly planted orchard as well, strengthening our partnership with the culinary arts program.

We love the new space! Our gratitude to UW neighborhood design build studio and its students and teachers -- and to the donors who made this gorgeous and functional space possible.

This is the fourth time we have had the honor of working with the UW Neighborhood Design Build Studio (a program of the UW Department of Architecture). Yesterday the students presented us with a proposed model of a new entrance to our site that would integrate our planned orchard to the west of our currently fenced site with the rest of our existing space. Some elements will include a "farm stand," with flexible uses for student work, arches that can be tented for expansion of our growing areas, level walkways from 31st street to our site, and many more features that we are working to finalize right now with the architecture students and Professor Jake LaBarre. This is known as Phase I of this expansion project.

Our students have been hard at work and it’s time to celebrate with our Winter Open House. Five varieties of student-grown poinsettias are available to order online and pick up Sunday, November 23rd. We often sell out, so reserve yours now so you won't be disappointed at the open house.

Order at https://nathanhaleurbanfarm.square.site

We will also sell student-made succulent gardens, assorted houseplants, and more things harvested from the garden in person at the open house.

In addition, Hale 's business class will be selling items inspired by our summer garden to bring the joy of gardening indoors -- snacking seeds, hot sauces, fruit preserves, soaps, lotions, hot chocolate, and candles -- all from student entrepreneurship product lines.

And finally, our Baking and Pastry class students will be selling an assortment of fresh made pastries and sweets, as well as offering some complimentary treats to go with apple cider.

Looking for an experience? Come join our Build a Wreath workshop, led by expert student and volunteer wreath makers.
Class times: 11:00am & 12:00pm
Please purchase and book in advance to reserve your wreath making spot at:
