Happy Birthday to us!

SAAS was founded on this day in 1983 by a dedicated group of trustees, faculty, and parents who dreamed of creating a school where students would be prepared not just for college, but for life.

In that very first year, 72 students joined them in bringing this vision to life and laying the foundation for the vibrant, dynamic, and impactful SAAS community we know today.

Last week, SAAS 9th graders embarked on an only-at-SAAS rite of passage: the Odyssey Trip!

A defining experience for over thirty years, this three-day camping adventure in Washington State Parks gives students the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen bonds with peers and faculty, reflect on the first part of their journey through high school, and look ahead toward the rest.

“Odyssey creates a common experience for every student, regardless of their background,” said Outdoor Trips & Travel Assistant Director Lauren Marziliano. “It’s an opportunity for students to connect—to students they’ve known previously, to students they’ve never met before, but also to their advisors. We’re creating culture together.”
