Being an entrepreneur in coaching and consulting can be isolating.

It can feel like nobody gets you.

It can feel like every person you share an idea with just leaves you more confused, frustrated, and sometimes defeated.

Here’s the thing:

Well, two things, actually.

1.) As an entrepreneur—whether that’s what you call yourself yet or not—you’re already in the great minority. And that means that the majority of people are never really going to understand what is it that you’re doing.

2.) The isolation isn’t just something to push through. It can hurt. It can hurt our confidence. It can hurt our chances of success. And it can cost us YEARS in our path to success.

I know all too well what that’s like and how painful it can be. I spent years trying to go it on my own and got to the point where I just withdrew and stopped telling people about what I was doing… which of course just made me feel MORE isolated.

But then, I discovered the big secret that would change everything.

I invested in my first high value mentorship program, which came with a mastermind community.

I came for the system and guidance…. But I fell in love with the feeling of belonging that came with the mastermind community.

It no longer felt scary to share what I was doing. Frustration was replaced by clarity. Fear was replaced by freedom.

There were many reasons why making the trip to in London this year made a lot of sense.

Learning what other industry leaders are doing…

Staying on top of trends…

Networking woth other experts who can bring value to our community of inspiring leaders…

All of those are important.

But nothing beats the feeling of a big room full of passionate leaders from all over the world… who, even though we may not share the same mother tongue, they all speak my language. They understand my quest. They seek ways to share in and support me in it, and I get to find ways to do the same for them.

As leaders we need to not only work to inspire others, but also seek to be inspired by being around others who understand our challenges.

So if you’re finding yourself feeling misunderstood… or confused… or frustrated.

Consider that it’s probably not anything to do with you… nor is there anything wrong with the people around you… Maybe youre just in the wrong room!

This week, why not seek out a way to connect with others who understand your challenges.

And if you can’t be around them in person, read a book, listen to a podcast, or reach out to someone you’ve connected with (Maybe even pull out a business card from that bag you’ve got of all the cards you got from networking events and didn’t do anything with?)

Whatever your strategy, just remember that for you to best serve the people you’re meant to serve, you’ve got to serve yourself by finding your community!
