Huge thanks to our donors for supporting campus safety!! We are grateful for your investment in campus where every Husky can learn, work, and thrive — because safety isn't just about systems and security. It's about people. 💜

RESCHEDULING! A rainy April night isn't working out for a walk, so tonight's event was canceled. Stay tuned for a walk later this spring with (we hope) sunnier weather.

We're joining our ASUW | Associated Students of the University of Washington friends tomorrow (Tuesday, April 21) for a campus safety forum at the UW Student Senate, then walking through campus to talk about nighttime safety. Hope to see you there!

Whether you’re dealing with emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, substance use concerns or just need help connecting to resources, you don’t have to handle it alone.

Call Husky Assist — the UW’s new on-call, in-person mental health crisis response team — at 206-543-9331 or 911. The team is available Monday–Friday, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. except holidays and serves UW students, faculty and staff on the Seattle campus. (Sorry, Dubs not included).

If you’re off campus and need immediate help, call or text 988.

Did you feel the 3.0 earthquake in Snohomish County at about 5:40 a.m. today? It's a good time to learn what to do in an earthquake: https://www.washington.edu/uwem/be-prepared/emergency-procedures/earthquake/

25 years ago this week, the Nisqually earthquake shook up the Pacific Northwest—including the UW Engineering Library! Come join us tomorrow evening (Feb 24, 6:30-8 PM) for a panel discussion and Q&A with earthquake experts about what we’ve learned since 2001, and how to prepare for the next big one: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/25-years-since-the-nisqually-earthquake-are-we-ready-for-the-next-one-tickets-1983004305258

Warning: Scammers are pretending to be University of Washington Police officers.
In the past few days, the UW Police Department has received more than 20 reports of scam phone calls that look like they’re coming from the UWPD non-emergency number, 206-685-8973 or the UWPD front desk phone number, 206-543-0507.

The scammer pretends to be a UWPD officer and demands money, telling callers they need to pay or they’ll be arrested. If you get a call like this, please do not share personal information or send money, gift cards or anything of value. The UWPD will never call you to ask for money.

If someone contacts you claiming to be with the UWPD, hang up and call the UWPD non-emergency line at 206-685-8973 to speak with the on-duty dispatcher. The dispatcher can confirm whether an officer is actually trying to reach you.

It's test day! We're doing a test of the UW Alert system and UW Outdoor Alert system on UW's Seattle campus TODAY (Jan. 22) at 1:22 p.m.

The test is to help our community know how alerts work and what to do in the event of an active shooter attack.

📱 Watch for a UW Alert TEST message via text and email. Make sure you’re signed up for text messages at UW.edu/Alert
💡 The message will share what to do in a real emergency and where to find more info.
🔇 There will be no sirens, gunshot sounds or simulations during the test.

This drill is ONLY for Seattle. At UW Tacoma, the active threat drill is on April 16. UW Bothell will also hold a drill during Winter quarter, with the date TBD.
