The life cycle of a caterpillar, or butterfly, consists of four main stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly. It begins when a butterfly lays an egg on a suitable plant. The egg hatches into a larva, commonly known as a caterpillar, which primarily focuses on feeding and growing. As it consumes leaves, the caterpillar undergoes several molts, shedding its skin multiple times. Once it reaches a certain size, it enters the pupal stage by forming a chrysalis. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar undergoes a remarkable transformation called metamorphosis, reconstituting its body into that of an adult butterfly. Finally, the adult butterfly emerges, ready to mate and lay eggs, continuing the cycle.

Outdoor play is a wonderful way to build gross motor skills, practice cooperative play, and just have fun in the sun. Today we enjoyed tree climbing, and other adventures in the local park.

Learning is best when inspired from our environment! The children have been fascinated by the flowers and plants that have been blooming in our neighborhood, so we decided to start learning about the sprouting process! 🌸

Today we planted our very own seed pods and are excited to see them grow in the upcoming weeks! Stay tuned! 🪴🌱

Making our own playdough at Cloud 9 Academy is a fun way to learn about science, cooking, and kitchen safety. Bonus that it is also lots of fun and great for developing strong hands and fine motor skills.

We took a new path on our walk today and just had to take a moment to admire the beauty of Laurelhurst. Cloud 9 academy is so blessed to be located in such a lovely neighborhood.

At Cloud 9 Academy we love to observe nature on our walks. We took advantage of the amazing weather today to draw the flowers that are blooming.
