Germany is known for its rich history, and one of the most fascinating facts about the country is the sheer number of castles spread across its landscape. In fact, Germany has more castles than the United States has McDonald's restaurants.
The castle shown here is Eltz Castle, located in Wiershem. What makes it even more remarkable is that it has stayed within the same family for 33 generations and has been continuously owned for more than 800 years. Surrounded by forests and standing high above the valley, it looks like something straight out of a fairy tale.
While many historic buildings around the world have changed owners countless times, Eltz Castle remains a rare example of a family legacy that has survived centuries of wars, political changes, and modernization.
Would you spend a night in a castle like this?
