Tuesdays offer a lower child to teacher ratio and the curriculum is geared towards younger kids. Once a month our Friday class is held in a local park and gives older kids a chance to explore on these "Nature Days."
⭐️Co-Op Model ⭐️
As a co-op preschool, all members are involved in the success of the preschool and the development and learning of the enrolled children. Co-Op can help you build community while learning from the teachers and other families and can help your child become more independent and learn to express feelings, problem solve, and have empathy for others.
⭐️Potty Training ⭐️
It is not necessary for your child to be potty trained to enroll at King St. We fully support the child (and the caregiver) in the potty training process.
⭐️Plus One Benefit ⭐️
In line with our family friendly philosophy, caregivers are able to bring another child preschool age or below with them on their working shift.

As we enter registration season, we’ll be exploring the five pillars of our King Street philosophy.
5. Anti-bias. This philosophy maintains that diversity is positive, while oppressive behaviors are negative. Anti-bias curriculum is based on concept that it is detrimental for children to develop biases against people of different color, religious and ethnic culture, sexual orientation, ability, or economic class.
In addition, curriculum goals include enabling every to construct a confident self-identity, encouraging understanding and acceptance of the common humanity all people share. We learn from our neighbors and work to build community together.
As we enter registration season, we’ll be exploring the five pillars of our King Street philosophy.
4. Problem-solving. This approach trusts that children have the ability to solve their own problems with the facilitation and support of a skilled adult to guide them through the process. For young children the goal is learning to use the problem-solving process, rather than always finding the solution.
You’ll hear brainstorming ideas for group play, making a plan for sharing toys, and communicating with friends when they’re waiting for the next turn on the tire swing.
As we enter registration season, we’ll be exploring the five pillars of our King Street philosophy.
3. Play-based. We believe that playing is the primary learning experience for children. Our goal is to create an environment where children "do what comes naturally," which is play.
have so much space to explore and play, big and small, inside and outside.
As we enter registration season, we’ll be exploring the five pillars of our King Street philosophy.
2. Family-friendly. We believe that when families work together to provide a cooperative preschool, they create a vital sense of community and a healthy environment for children's optimal growth and development.
Supporting our wide range of families, all caregivers are welcome to work a family classroom shift and younger siblings are able to attend as plus-ones.
As we enter registration season, we’ll be exploring the five pillars of our King Street philosophy.
1. Child-centered. Our goal is to create an environment where kids do what comes naturally. At the same time we take the opportunity to assist a child initiating a project or who needs their ideas, suggestions, and observations affirmed.

Here is a lovely reflection from one of our families who’s child is now thriving in kindergarten. They are missed, but we are also excited to see them lean in to their next school adventure with excitement and confidence💗
“4 years ago I enrolled my son Oliver in King Street Co-op Preschool. I loved my role as a SAHM but I was desperate for some solo time; Olly needed to learn independence and we both needed a community. King Street delivered these expectations, but also gave us an unexpected gift. It changed the way I parent in so many beautiful ways. Most people don’t get child development training when they become a parent and while intuition is strong, we tend to default our parenting style to the way we were parented ourselves. The parent education I got from being part of this co-op broke my default pattern. It’s taught me to look deeper into Oliver’s behavior and to stay in-tune to his emotions even during those really challenging moments. Olly LOVES King Street and proudly tells people all about his preschool. We will both look back on the last 4 years as something we did together! Next year he will start Kindergarten and there are many emotions around that for both of us. But he is ready (and so am I) because of the confidence the amazing teachers at King Street have instilled in both of us.

As we approach the end of our year at school, we’ve all been reflecting on what makes King Street Co-Op such a special preschool. Here are some thoughts from one of our returning families, beautifully encapsulating how important this community is in all our lives.
“When my family started looking for a preschool, King Street checked all the boxes: co-op model that makes it easy to meet other families, kids can enroll at age two, and our baby can accompany me on the days I attend class with our preschooler.
Now, our baby’s second birthday is just around the corner, and she’s ready to be a preschooler herself in the fall! I’m pretty sure she already considers herself a King Street kid. She’s happy to see the teachers. She’s been on field trips. She knows the goodbye song. Whenever we’re at school, she greets everyone, and makes a beeline for her favorite thing (the tire swing!).
We’re excited for our kids to be in class together next year, and we’re glad to have such a strong sense of belonging at King Street!”
