My Mother’s Ashes ~ Her Urn
When my brothers unanimously said “yes” to my offer of me making my Mom’s Urn, I had questions, so I spoke with the funeral home. Human remains are about the size of a five lbs bag of sugar (but the density is closer to flour) and for her single niche the vessel should be no larger than 10”X10”. I jumped right in and created 4 distinctly different containers. Two of those made it to the final firing and then my brothers voted. Their choice made it to Covington, LA. She fit snuggle inside with a favorite prayer of hers etched inside.
Love you Mom❤️
It has been a long while since I posted on , life happens and so does death.

Welcome Wen and Max!
Cleaned and organized.
Ready for tomorrow!
Our craftsman home circa 1924.
Handmade tiles cut in a repeating pattern, glazed using Spectrum Shino in Jalapeño. The variation comes from the slight difference in firing temperature. I experimented with that for a couple of weeks, I can tell you that was interesting.
Calculated shrinkage perfectly, no cut tiles.
I ❤️ pottery!

Glazing Day!
(Working at the dining table, aka “Studio B”, listening to podcasts.)
...this time of year is tough on a potter’s hands.
It’s always encouraging to see your progress. Yes, some of these will be switched with better glazed tiles ASAP. But, I was ready to see the layout. Work in progress❣️
Personal project in the works...155 handmade tiles for our fireplace. Our house dates back to 1924 and currently has a wood burning fireplace. We are installing a wood burning stove for energy efficiency. More images soon.
