This was a labor of love. What an amazing tribute to Tilden, its Past, Present and Future.
Hello all. Thanks for joining us as we celebrated Tilden School, the FIRST 36 years, on August 29th. The first class at Tilden was the1985/86 school year.
Those of you receiving this email either attended or responded to pre-event invitations. Please share these photos with those who weren't there.
We had approximately 300 attendees, including 33 former teachers and staff. So many great memories.
Thanks also to our many donors, who allowed us to have the following:
Blue Bird hand-scooped Ice cream in the park,
Gifts for Whitney, Monica, Elaine, Jan and Karin, as well as flowers for new owner/principal/teacher Sarah Shearer.
This also allowed Jessica to photograph our event. Here is the link to all her wonderful pictures: https://picti.net/lKFk9.
The retirees and Sarah were unanimous in their thanks for such an outpouring of love.
We must also thank Matthew Dirks, former Tilden student, who was a surprise to Whitney and played the keyboard accompanying her ukulele and helped us sing many favorite Tilden songs, as well as a walk down Lou Magor Memory Lane.
Whitney brought us to tears with stories of her decades of friendship with Lou and his amazing connection with Tilden School.
Our special thanks to emcees Pat Sanford and Ed Hewson, both former Tilden dads for many, many years.
And thank you to our special Acrostics readers, who are all former Tilden students:
Karin Beck: Alexa, Amelia and Hugh Hewson
Jan Foster: Laura Foster, her daughter
Elaine Connell: Ross Peizer
Monica Riva: Natalie Pedegana
Whitney Tjerandsen: Roxanne (Jacobs) Caple

IMPORTANT:
Below is a message from Lisa Hewson. She and several Tilden moms are putting together a memory book for Whitney and they need your help!
Thank you all who were able to attend the special Tilden retirement celebration, we had an incredible outpouring of love and support for the teachers & school that have provided so much to our children and families for 36+ years! We were fortunate to have been able to provide an amazing photographer for the event to try and capture some festive moments. We are providing the link for you to view and print photos.
As you may have gleaned at the event, we are also trying to put together a special memory album for Whitney (which will be shared with the other teachers as well!) as a commemorative of the school’s first 36 years and we need your help! Please take a few moments to reflect back on some of the special Tilden highlights for you and/or your student. And please ask your student to jot down or verbally relay to you a special memory. The memories can be general in nature or specific for a teacher or occurrence. So many things come to mind, here are just a few things that might spark a memory or two..…the Halloween Carnival, Field Day, Valentine’s Day parties, 100 days party, Teddy Bear picnic, Thanksgiving celebration, Chinese New Year, Leprechaun traps, 4th grade play, 5th grade play, Islandwood, Thursday writing, K buddies, recess (outdoor or rainy day), PE, snow days, all school music with Lou & Whitney, poetry, art, 3 layer rule, and so many more!!
We also would love to include any photos that you have!
Did you take one of the memory cards home with you and now want to send it to us for the album? Couldn’t make the event and want to have your memories included in this album? Not a problem at all! We are still collecting your memories and photos, and want to make it easy for you to get them to us. You can send things by mail, email, or drop them off.

Thank you for your help with this, and please reach out if you have any thoughts or questions. Our goal is to have all of the memories compiled by October 16th.
