Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs is a pillar of early childhood that we loose once children go to public schools. I have heard people get mad at homeless people for stealing or other times "wasting their money" on small vices. But they can't meet their basic needs, which causes them to be in a constant state of survival and things we will do when we only have our survival brain turned on are much different than when we have those needs being met. Often behaviors can be broken down to an unmet need and if we could only take a little extra time to figure out and solve those needs, we would have a much different society.
