Time is running out! Please consider donating to the fund to save the parent education program at our co-ops (see shared post).

And if possible, please send a quick email TODAY to Nate Humphrey, President of the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, at [email protected]. The board will be meeting over the next two days to discuss the future of this program

Sample message:

Dear Mr Humphrey,

I urge you to hold off on the proposed change in funding allocation. This change would eliminate funding for parent education and cooperative preschool programs, along with the faculty and staffing infrastructure that makes this system work.

We want to highlight who stands to be most impacted:
--Spanish-language co-ops serving diverse communities
--Parent Education programs at Mary’s Place supporting unhoused families
--Children with special needs, where parent educators play a critical role in early identification and connecting families to services
--Low-income families who rely on the PAC scholarship fund, which would no longer exist
--Parent educators themselves, facing the loss of stable, middle-income jobs and benefits

These programs are deeply embedded in our communities and support families at every level.

Thank you for taking a moment to do this.

🔴We need to work to make sure our most vulnerable families receive the tools needed to be successful caregivers. Don’t let this program go away.

Washington's co-op preschools face existential crisis after new state rules threaten funding 03/26/2026

VHCP and our fellow cooperative preschools are at risk of losing Parent Education! Please see the link below to learn more, and consider signing the petition to help keep this program alive. Our school has been fortunate to receive financial and educational support through this program at North Seattle College. This impacts the scholarships we can provide to families and the support our students, parents, and teachers receive both inside and outside the classroom.
